Metachatters: Scare the Crap Outta Me [More:]I love being scared. Love it. But it occured to me today that it has been a while since I've had to sleep with the lights on. So I'm asking y'all to do me a favor: scare me.

Tell me the scariest story you've ever heard. Tell me about the creepiest thing you've ever seen, heard or experienced. Show me the scariest picture you've ever seen. Send me to a frightening website. Spook me. The creepier the better. I'll love you for it.
Go here. Scary.

Eek.

Ack. (It's an old stand-by, but you cannot go wrong here for digustingly disgusting pictures. Beware though, this series is simply, truly, awfully disgusting.)

You know that road? That road that goes out past the old military base? Past the old folks home? Yeah, that road. Well, one time, like 20 years ago? There was this couple. My aunt knew them. They went to high school together. Well anyway, they went out that road. And they parked, and they were making out and stuff, and then the girl heard this weird noise. So she said, "Honey, what's that?" and he said, "Nah, it's nothing." But then she was getting all freaked out. So they went to leave, but the car ran out of gas. So the guy said, "Well, okay, I'll walk back to that gas station, it can't be more than 5 miles or so, and I'll get gas. Just you stay right here." So he went off. She was really scared and she locked the doors and everything. Then she felt the car kind of shake, you know? And she didn't know what to do, so she just curled up real small down under the dashboard as best she could. And she got real tired and she went to sleep in the car.

Then she hears this knock, knock, on the window. She wakes up and she's screaming, right? But it's a cop, with a flashlight, and he says, "Miss, get out of the car." So she gets out of the car and he says, "Come with me." and they start walking back along the car, and he says, "Don't look back, just don't look back." So of course she does and

her boyfriend's head was on the back bumper. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

Why? Why do people insist on putting such things in their ass?

Why? Why do people insist on putting such things in their ass?

Because it's there.

If you haven't seen it yet, definitely check out Ted's Caving Page (story of a mystery cave); very scary!

Used to play a sort of game at a truck stop on the outskirts of town every weekend. Don't know how it all came about. We just found ourselves together and the topic naturally drifted toward scary things. (ok, I drifted it) It became a late-night weekend ritual.

Most of my contributions were of the kind where you only just realize that something horrible has been there/has been happening to you, for some time now. (eg: you wake gradually, in stages, realizing that you're in mid-conversation. You become aware that you're holding a phone, listening to someone talk, that you've had these conversations many times before but had forgotten them like a dream... and only then become aware that you have NO idea who this person is, but that they call you every night and tell you things, ask you things, and as this dawns on you, the voice trails off to silence, perhaps a soft hiss, sharp intake of breath... then demanding "(your name)? ... ARE YOU AWAKE?!")

Freaky things I've experienced... will have to wait till another late night...

Oh, but when I was a little boy, and scared of the monsters in the dark closet (especially when for whatever reason, I found myself spending a night in the BASEMENT), I had a... forceful way of exorcising the spirits, as it were. I'd get up in the black dark basement, head off tottering toward that slightly inkier black blot of closet, arms outstretched, eyes no doubt wide, and walk into it, railing, angry, saying: "Ok, if there is anything there -- show yourself! Come on -- show me what you've got!"

Terrifies me now to think of that little boy.

Used to dream that there was a stone sink in the cellar and I could hear a gurgling sound from the plug hole. When I bent down to take a closer listen, a witches hand would push out of the plug hole, grab me by my hair, and pull me down to hell. It used to freak me out that dream.

Whoah, seanyboy! It's freaking me out right now.

Okay, LeeJay, this is pretty damn scary. (Best viewed at home, alone, in the dark. If you're at work turn down the sound.)

Dear taz,

A. I just screamed like a schoolgirl.

B. I am now wide awake...as is my entire apartment and about a quarter of the Mission.

Love,
Fris

P.S. I'll forgive you once my heart-rate falls below 300.

Taz, I nearly fell backwards in my chair. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

That is one freaky dream, seanyboy. Sounds like you dreamt this repeatedly??

I find that portends in bad dreams are very powerful because they fill you with that dread. I'd always know something bad was going to happen (but alas, not that it was a dream), when I'd try to turn on lights and they'd come on only a little -- this dingy yellow glow, and sometimes then spark out. I feel vaguely ill just thinking about it.

Ah taz, seen so many of those that I was kinda half-expecting it. Well done, though. :)
