I've been paid a year's salary this month. Obviously, this is a mistake.
→[More:]No kidding, this has actually happened to me. My question to you, beautiful MeChavs, is to what corner of the world should I flee with my loot? Preferably, it'll be a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the UK.

Plus, how do I stop myself going to the ATM just to check my balance?

Did this happen via electronic payment or check?

If it's an electronic payment, they'll fix it in an instant as soon as it's discovered. Bad things then occur if you've spent more than you'd normally earn.

If it was a check, it'll take longer. I suggest putting a certain portion of the sum into an interest-bearing account, so you can earn some cash in the meantime. Just be ready to write a check back when the time comes.

However, that's just the responsible answer. The just-for-shits'n'giggles answer is: Southeast Asia. Live like a king (or queen, if you prefer) on dollars a day!

Argentina. 1 pound is 5 pesos, but a peso buys as much in argentina as an american dollar buys in america. It's a nice country, too.
