Unphotographable I really like the idea behind this site, a kind of text-only photoblog, where each entry describes a picture never taken. What snapshots do you wish you had captured, but were unable, or unprepared, or not equipped to take. I, for example, would have loved to have caught a picture of the guy I saw riding a tandem on his own one morning as I sat on the bus, heading to work. At that moment it somehow seemed so unexpected and inexplicably poignant.
the look on moift's and me3dia's faces last night
and the snipers on the rooftops of the virgin megastores
thanks guys, sites off, please
i will leave it to your imaginings for now

very nice, mister.

Ooh, ooh! I have one! Just a couple of nights ago I was brushing my teeth before going to bed (very late, around 3 or 4 a.m.), and as I glanced into the mirror, I was momentarily shocked by seeing a bright light there... which turned out to be a huge full moon perfectly centered in the window behind me. It was very brilliant, very richly colored, very looming, and quite a strange thing, because I have never, ever, ever seen anything in that window at night except perfect blackness.

The window is quite small, and faces an air shaft, and then the roof of the adjoining building, so only roughly half of the window actually shows any sky area. The "event horizon" for the moon to show up as it did in that incredibly small available area of the window, centered, no less, and for me to be there to see it at exactly the right time had to be so incredibly precise that I was utterly astonished.

Absolutely no point in going for the camera, as it would have been gone by the time I managed to get back with it.

Sitting on the train one morning, I noticed this beautiful woman with her hair pulled back in a tight bun with a large gardenia carefully tucked behind her ear. She looked like Billie Holiday and was absolutely striking. So gorgeous and regal.

Then the train stopped between stations just for her. She stood up and only then did I see she was wearing a workman's jumpsuit and carrying a toolbox--apparently a SEPTA employee.

That was a decade ago and I am still fascinated by her. Taking the time to doll up and fasten a flower in your hair just to fix a train track. How cool.
