Beer corollary. What's your favorite beer slogan?[More:]Mine's Olympia: "It's The Water."
"...tonight is kinda special, the beer you pour, must be something more, somehow, so tonight, let it be lowenbrau..."

Natty Boh: "From the Land of Pleasant Living." That land being Baltimore, Maryland. (Although it hasn't been brewed there since 1996.)

Whoa, kortez. Great minds think alike. I used to sit in the Mt. Royal tavern & drink pitchers of Natty Boh Dark on draft -

Shaeffer - when just one isn't enough (from an old beer sign a college buddy had hanging in his room).

The Natty Boh dude just knifed the Pringles guy in a brawl over the Utz girl's affection.

Any a you Free Staters ever drink Oxford Class? The six-pack has a Union Jack on it, and it used to be bottled in Linthicum, at Clipper City Brewing Co, I think.

I used to steal Boh from my dad. My friends and I would sneak out and drink beers on the playground. I had to bring the empties home because my dad bought the 16 oz. returnables--he'd notice a missing bottle. He proclaimed often and giddily, "The stuff's cheaper than milk!" I miss Mr. Boh. I hope you'll have one for me, mygothlaudry.

Buzz beer - "Stay up and get drunk!"

"...and while we're singing we're proud to say/it's brewed on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay"

We had an impromptu singalong to the Natty Boh song at our wedding (where, of course the fine brew was served). Awesome.

No boh for me - I'm an ex Marylander too these days. And I find it's Utz crab chips that I bring back home with me when I go up to visit Bawlteemore.

Is everybody a current or ex-Old Liner? I'm from the only Maryland county that doesn't border water or another state.

Colt .45 suckers, Billie Dee: "Alot to drink, without drinking alot." It promises in the slogan, in no uncertain terms, that you will get shitty for a small amount of dough! If you can keep it down, Colt .45 is horrible.

Allegany County. ("No, Western Maryland. No, west of DC. Yeah, I know, but look at a map, it does.")

Went to get my 2nd BA in Baltimore - MICA & then TSU. Ended up staying for more than a decade with a 2 year detour in the middle in the east village.

And, back on topic, kinda - the slogans we alter and make up:
A friend of mine used to say "the beer to have when you're having more than 12." I think it originally came from Milwaukee's Best (Worst) or Black Label, does anyone know where it really came from & the real slogan?
We also used to drink Goebel - incredibly cheap nasty stuff - and called it Joseph, the Nazi Beer. Remarkably the company never picked up on it.

The Natty Boh dude just knifed the Pringles guy in a brawl over the Utz girl's affection.

That's fantastic! *cobbles together jpegs to send to the old man*

No boh for me - I'm an ex Marylander too these days.

Shit.... Well, perhaps LeeJay or someone else will have one.

It's almost noon, so I'm going out with the dog for a beer on the porch before it gets too hot.

Cheers!

I used to go to Catoctin Mountain Park as a kid. Wolf Rock, Cat Rock, and Chimney Rock. I don't know if it's Allegany county, but it's close, anyway. Well-kept park.

I often thought, if I started a power trio, the band members could be the Rock family: Wolf, Cat, and Chimney.

On preview, I remember Goebel's -- we pronounced it "joe-belle," since it came from "Day-twa."

Oh man Natty Bo. From the land of pleasant living. I thought Natty Bo was the official name of the beer when I was little because that's all anyone called it.

Also from Colt.45:

"Colt .45. It works."

With Billy Dee in the penthouse apartment with about 15 smoking honeys.
posted by Johnny Hazard 20 July | 14:10
Don't let the smooth taste fool you. It's pure malt liquor satisfaction.
posted by Hugh Janus 20 July | 14:13
Didn't Billy Dee also say that Colt .45 "Takes you where you wanna go"?

Sapporo's "Love Beer?" kinda says it all, although I miss the glass-lined tanks of Old Latrobe.
