a light, soft massage with a Vitamin E gel is in order. it does accelerate healing. I'd suggest "Vea Lipogel" but I'm sure it's not available in the US. try to get a good gel. I don't have direct experience of breaking the Vitamin E gelcaps you buy at the drugstore (the ones you're supposed to eat) and rubbing the gel that's inside. I know women (and a coukle of male weight-lifters) who did that to prevent stretch marks, and it seemed to work. but I'd try to stick with a dermatological gel if you can. I'd pop open the gelcaps only as last resort.
I get poison ivy like crazy. I get it in the winter. Check this out: I got poison ivy in the winter when I was living in Manhattan and hadn't been near a park in months. I think some of the urushiol got on my shoes, or some piece of clothing, and I touched it, or it touched me, and, voila!
Poison ivy isn't a burnt belly, but I feel your itch, Specklet. And, aloe and E-gel aside, the only thing that can make it go away is your mind, a la "rain, rain, go away." Which either works, or doesn't. Unfortunate, that. I hate itching.
