Trillian keeps trilling at me but when I look at it, nothing seems to have changed. What is it trying to tell me? I'm not used to running Trillian on a computer that has sound.....[More:]Its a three beep tone, sometimes assending [beep Beep BEEP] and sometimes desending [BEEP Beep beep].
I get that a lot, too.
Could it be people signing off and on again very quickly?

most likely thats what it is. they may not even actually be signing on and off, but trillian's connections are being interrupted frequently. you can turn off the specific sound for that, which is what i did when a friend on icq began "signing on and off" about twice a minute, even though he wasn't.

I've never heard Zooey beep.

What quonsar said. I was never really sure what all the beeps were, but fiddling with the events which trigger sounds got rid of the problem. It doesn't seem to have any effect on performance.
