I am so alone, it hurts. There are only so many conversations one can have with oneself.
It tells me I'm banned.

Told me that too, but after a while it relented.

That's Ok, I just finished a big plate of spareribs and beans from the Puerto Rican place down the street. Now I've got a roll of sweetarts and a Mike's Hard Lime, and I'm listening to Italian covers of mid-60's US hits (like "Venqono a Portarci Via Ah! Ah!" by I Balordi). Life could be worse.

try a different efnet server. Odds are someone on your isp was banned from one of them.

jonmc: this is only marginally related, but are you familiar with the song Ca Plane Pour Moi, by Plastic Bertrand? It uses the same backing music as Jetboy Jetgirl and I think it's the funniest thing ever (besides being based on an awesome song).

Look who your askin'? I heard Jet Boy, Jet Girl on a mixtape a lesbian I used to date gave me. I downloaded the Plastic Bertrand on a lark from some site ans was stunned when I pressed play.

I had a similar experience when I read about a guy named Roberto Jordan, who was supposed to be the king of Mexican Bubblegum. When I was p2ping I found a track of his called "Ven A Darme Amor" and heard a very familiar bassline. It was "Come & Get Your Love" in espanol.

The Italian track above is not unique, apparently there were tons of them made in the 60's and 70's. Some tracks like "Louie Louie" work great since nobody knew the words anyway, but songs like "The Weight," and "Help Me Rhonda" translate weirdly since they're so American sounding. Still fun to hear.

I also have "Itsy-Bitsy-Teeny-Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" in Finnish by Laila Kinnunen. (she was kinda hot, wouldn't have minded seeing her in that fabled swimsuit, but I digress) Rock and roll really did go worldwide in those days.

Dammit, I can never get on IRC.

Oh, and, Ca Plane Pour Moi rocks. In its own weird way. LOVE that song.

I have a great Sonic Youth cover of ca plane pour moi from the "freedom of choice" compilation, that has some other great stuff on it.
