I can't believe she didn't know he was gay, unless this one is thick as two planks. Women just know. Anyway, I'm sure she'll get lots of sympathy and another book deal out of it, so she'll be just fine.

At the risk of overgeneralization, maybe if African-American culture as a whole was more accepting of gay people, living a "dual life" wouldn't be necessary and women wouldn't get themselves tangled in as many unfaithful relationships.

Is it just me, or is that story really badly written? I swear I could hear the author snapping her fingers, sucking her teeth, and lolling her head around in disgust, with an occasional "mmkay?" or "mm-hmmm!" fnording around between the text.
