Does anyone else have a Livejournal? Or am I the only one? I'm always looking for new reading material.

Mine's here. It's mostly friends-only, but I'm usually willing to add almost anyone. I just have soon-to-be-ex-husband issues, and if he reads it he tends to call me up ranting in the middle of the night while drunk.

I dig the whole interconnected ring-thing that one gets with LJ and Flickr, private and public and all that. I just don't dig placing my stuff on other peoples servers. It's a control freak thing. I won't let you understand.

I'm jus' messin' with yas. But why do you like it? Is it that public/private friendship community thing that is the big attraction?

I have one because almost everyone I know IRL has one, and we use it to keep connected, make plans, share pictures, things like that.
It's useful like that.

I have one because it allows me to keep track of what's going on in friends' lifes that I'd miss otherwise. I choose what I say on it, so privacy isn't as much of an issue (in my opinion). Also, it's really easy to use. I used to use blogger in addition to livejournal, but it's easier to get people to read their friends list rather than a seperate site.

I'm on it, but you don't want to read it. It's just a way my RL friends and I keep up with each other when we're too busy to see each other.

it's easy, it's reliable, and it's easy to hide in plain site

it's interesting to see how other people use it
and it makes a lot of sense in how sprawling the internet is now.

i love finding old consistent user sites in general where people have left their links unchanged

Yeah, I am a bit ambivalent about the whoe thing myself. I have an account on Flickr and people keep asking why I don't post pictures there - I really don't know why, it just doesn't feel right. I think part of it is a fear of putting all that stuff in someone else's hands - what if they just decide to close up one day and take everything down?
