MetaChat, a home for my stupid questions This one is about computers, customer service, and Tekserve. Please, AskMeCha, help me gain the social skills I never had.
[More:]
So I just got my 'puter back from the shop yesterday, and I noticed this morning that they took a chunk out of the corner. (It's an iBook--front left corner, the gray bit.) They is either Apple or Tekserve, since they sent the computer out. So I plan on taking it back today and pointing it out, mostly so that when the next thing breaks, they don't refuse to service it or blame me.

I know it would have been easier had I noticed when I was still there. It's too late for that now. What can I do to get them to help me, and not instantly fall into "how do we know you didn't do that after you left?" What do I say if they do say that?

MetaChat, please help my stupid, asocial ass!
Was it wrapped or boxed in something? You could say that you just unwrapped/opened it and just noticed the missing chunk.

"How do we know you didn't do that after you left?"

"Well, you don't. But I'm not complaining or asking you to do anything about it now, just telling you so that next time I need something fixed, you don't refuse service. I know you want to keep me as a customer, so please make a note of this for next time, ok? Thanks!"

No, no box. But you know, they give it to you and they're talking and showing you eight different receipts, and making you sign shit, and I'm Obliviora the Great anyway . . .

Obliviora the Great
Hehe - love it. Not just Obliviora, but Obliviora the Great! I think the sooner you get it back there, the better. And yes, so true about them shoving things at you while they should be saying "Hey, take a minute and look it over". But they never do.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. We actually used it to refer to a friend who was so oblivious that we were talking about how oblivious she was in a conversation that she was theoretically part of and she was like, "Wait, who's oblivious?" We all fell on the floor.

Anyway, I will take it in this afternoon. I'm waiting for the hottest part of the day, so I can make time spent in AC as relieving as possible. Thanks, darling. We really should set the date.
