Laundry-Related Does anyone have advice on getting barbecue stains out of sweatpants?
Hey Smart Dalek, were you aware that one of your brethen has been kidnapped?

Scissors.

Use Dawn dishwashing liquid, in a manner like what Smart Dalek linked to. Rub some on the stain and then put the sweatpants in a sink of cold water and swish them around a little, and let it sit for a few hours. Or put them on the soak cycle of your washer. Then wash them, regular cycle, in the Dawn. If the stain is not completely gone, repeat.

A few days ago, my daughter's bottle of suntan lotion burst open in her suitcase, completely covering everything with grease - all of her favorite clothes were seemingly ruined. Two rounds of Dawn later, and everything's as good as new...it's amazing for all kinds of stains, and oil and grease in particular.

And - follow it up with a regular wash cycle with laundry detergent, to avoid any possible skin irritants in the Dawn.

These kids today, they have NO RESPECT for their superiors.

Nine out of ten shade tree mechanics recommend it for oil stain removal from driveways, too. Saturate spots with Dawn Ultra, pour on kitty litter, brush around with broom, let stand, scoop up later, then wash off the spot with a hose. Or dab it up with Q-tips if you want to be more eco-friendly.

Yeah, I was gonna suggest Dawn as well.

Thanks, guys. I'd been trying to swat a silverfish with a wrestling magazine, but I missed and hit a plate of hot wings, spattering them all over my sweats. I tried to use saliva & my fingernails to get the stain out, but no dice. I'll try the Dawn.

Heh. I wonder how many "regulars" on here are using handles other than their own.

I'm wondering who Hugh Janus really is. He/she/it has posted some nice responses here lately.

I confess. I'm actually XQUZPHYR pretending to be jonmc. Soak a plaid flannel shirt in beer and put it on me and I just light up like a drag queen in a St. Laurent gown.

For future reference, you should use a napkin to kill a silverfish;
the slightest bit of pressure causes them to break apart like glass.

Well, to get the bloodstains out of my clown suit I always use Clorox 2.

Yes. Hang upside down from the wall and let the stripes run out.
