the Freaky Universe of McDonald's Advertising --a bunch of ads from the 70s on. (commentary not that great tho)
An Evil Grimace? That's immensely frightening. Maybe they lobotomized him.

I also can't help but being reminded of this.

i love that penny arcade thing. It is really weird that we used to have talking food with personalities in commercials meant to make you want to eat that food.

Yeah, but this can all be rationalized by the fact that the McDonald's product differs from what we call food in significant ways...

About 4 years ago I was in Kansas City with a sales guy from another software firm. He wanted ribs ‘cause we were in Kansas City. OK by me as I love good Q’d ribs! He took us all to an Applebees! Mass consumer culture is funny and sometimes hurtful.

This is awesome. Thanks for posting it.

I am nostalgic for the days when Grimace was evil and also when the Hamburglar was an actual petty thief, rather than the current smiling anti-hero his is now.

Oh, we all used to do that "Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish..." chant on the playground after seeing the double dutch commercial.
