Here are three possibilites for the metachat favicon. I'm not crazy about the last one; I think it doesn't read that well, and looks maybe too much like the playboy logo.

and while we're at it, can someone tell me how to make favicons appear on the firefox bar? all i can do now is put words...and words take up too much space.

on the browser. you know, i drag the favicon on to the browser bar, but the image doesnt turn up, only the site name.

dhruva, favicons appear quite automatically on my firefox 1.04 in win2000.

They should appear automatically, but I think there are sometimes issues with how the favicon information is included on the page that means that sometimes they don't show up on the link bar.

mlis: i tried that but it seemed to, well, not do what i wanted it to do

quonsar: i'm on firefox 1.04 but on Mac OSX. they do appear on the bookmarks sidebar though

I've also wondered how to get it in the firefox tab. I can always get it in the address bar but never the firefox tab.

Have you had a look in about:config and searched for icon? There maybe something switched off there....
