Ask MeCha: I remember seeing an ad for a new CD/DVD burner that could also print a label directly onto the top of the disk. I thought it was an awesome concept, but I can't seem to find info about it anywhere. Anyone (all 12 of you) know anything?
the technology is called lightscribe. you have to buy special media and it can take up to 20 minutes for the laser to print your image. The technology is owned by HP and for awhile it was only on new pc's they sold. Liteon now makes a lightscribe drive for about $130.

oooh... I saw that, I think it was in my boss's issue of Maxim.
Here's a printer that can do basically the same thing:

At $100 it seems a like it could even work out to be cheaper.

nope, really. I'm more of a wackjob free communist paper/mother jones/boring tech magazine kind of gal. and, well, if I really wanted to see boobies, I'd just look down.
