But I thought that playing here would be good wiki practice.

Why 'terrapin'?

The answer is threefold. First, I am a long-time fan fo the Grateful Dead [Flash warning]. Second, I attended (and graduated from) the University of Maryland whose mascot is the terrapin. Lastly, I have always dug turtles. i think they're interesting creatures.

Where?

Currently living in Vermont's state capital.

Why?

My wife and I decided to leave the rat race of Washington, DC for a quieter existence where we could grow some of our own food, and enjoy each other's company. We are currently [Feb. 2006] in the process of buying a house and plot of land which we'd love to tend.
