Brought the trap in. Casper is comfortably nose to nose with Buttons, my wife immediately named him/her Buttons, Possum went into hiding under the futon, and Nora Lou is very s l o w l y walking like she is afraid of setting off a bomb.

Buttons is now in the isolation room with a bed, food, water, and a poop box. Little cat is full of mud and dirt and I was going to try to clean him up a bit but Buttons seems to be made of fluff and murder.

Off to bed now. See what the morning brings. (Possum is sitting at the bottom of the stairs looking up in a worried fashion. 'what if it kills us while we sleep?')

They know.

So next day and Buttons is still dirty and fast and wants nothing to do with people. He is eating and drink and pooping and peeing so that's good.

Nora is bitchy and Possum is still fearful and Casper is doing fine.

Awww, I'm sure he'll come round eventually. He's very young and so I hope will acclimatise to a loving home.

So Buttons should be in a new home soon. We talked about keeping him but it did not seem fair to Casper.

He came to us just before Whitey Ford died and for a few months he was an only cat. He is a cat who needs a best human buddy. That is me.

Then came Nora Lou Who and she was a privileged little shit. He had to teach her that she does not run the world.

Then came Possum who is a little ball of perpetual energy. Casper had to teach him to chill a bit.

Casper has really become a good big brother. He is one of the happiest cats but he is also very serious and the kitten made him worried. He definitely felt he had some responsibility to take this on. I didn't feel right with that.

Casper has done a lot to make things work with three cats and I didn't want him to have to deal with a kitten growing into a cat.

We had Buttons fixed and after a short isolation at a shelter he will be put up for adoption. As a kitten with no issues he should find a home quickly.

Ah, Casper sounds like a mensch. I know Rudi would never tolerate another cat coming into the home. Hell, he barely tolerates me.

Yeah, Casper was a dick out on the streets. He kept challenging other cats and getting into fights. That's why we took him in. He was just not able to live out there without be injured all the time. But he has done a great job of being the moderating influence here.

Maybe Casper is so content now that he's willing to share.
