In an English country garden →[More:]Last weekend I visited the gardens at Great Dixter in Kent with my friend Elspeth. It was probably the last summer day of the year, gorgeous weather, hot and sunny and the garden was a triumph of beautiful planting. It was well-planned but not at all formal, with lots of plants overflowing across the narrow paths. As well as traditional English flowers (including varieties of cosmos I've never seen before) there was an amazing jungle garden. It was all rather gorgeous and took our minds of the uncertainties, chaos, turmoil and potential civil unrest that we're currently facing in the UK.
