A small victory [More:] An acquaintance who's a Facebook friend was making light of the "crybaby protesters" against Trump. Several of our common friends spoke up and explained why the protests are happening, one woman going so far as to say that while she's not one of the protesters, she's been thinking about it because she's afraid in a way she's never been before.

The comments on his post weren't shout-downs; they were articulate statements of position. In such a civil conversation, he really couldn't rail against the left but he did engage in some reasonably civil dialog. In the end he tried to make light of his own "crybaby" comment, saying he didn't really mean it, before deleting the post altogether.

I think he got frustrated, but I also think it "re-humanized" the protesters to him, at least to an extent. And maybe it re-humanized him a bit.
That's heartening and a good sign. Thanks for the bit of light in this glo9my time.

Thanks so much. I still have hope that Trump's voters, at least half of whom AREN'T deplorable, can be brought to see the error of their ways. Preferably well before 2018 when the next midterms come.
