Mid-week 3-point update thingy [More:]
The kids lost their roommates, and they found a nice place in Seattle itself. So, I will be moving in with them. This is basically a six-month plan.

I have a new hobby. 8 track tapes, and I bought a vintage recording deck. I only owned tapes between 74 and 76, but I always had a unfulfilled fascination of making mix tapes in 8 track's four short programs instead a cassette's usual two.

Sookie says, Hi.

1 - Hi Sookie

2 - I have renewed my fascination with all things Rufus Wainwright. Sometimes I forget that I love him So Hard, and then he up and reminds me.

3 - Eating beef bulgogi makes me happy.

Vacation soon! Wedding on Sunday followed by a cruise. In-laws come to town Saturday and watch Oliver Saturday night and Sunday so we can go off for the wedding. Yay! The world-famous kkokkodalk will be house/petsitting, and I am very grateful.

Been sneezing all day. Cold, go away! I already beat the cough and the sore throat, you have got to GO. It might help if it wasn't 50 degrees in this office.

What should I have for dinner tonight? I'm thinking....I don't know. Chips? I suppose I could scrounge up a veggie for the baby or something.

1. I got married last weekend! It was fun. Almost everything went as smoothly as I could have asked for, and it was great to see all my friends. My new hobby is writing thank you notes.

2. I am fruitlessly trying to set up our Roku and SimpleTV which is harder than it should be because of NYU dorm internet encryption. I am frustrated and I have so much pricy electronic hardware just sitting here uselessly at the moment. I want to watch tv and internet!

3. Getting excited for the honeymoon- we leave Friday for the Greek Islands (Santorini, Folegandros, Naxos is our plan). Let me know if you have any suggestions! So far all we have booked is a wine tour of Santorini on the first day. I'd like to get to Delos at some point to see the ruins but I'm not sure how that all works with ferries etc. I've heard that you can't really book ferries ahead of time so hopefully we will be able to do it all once we are there.

Hi Sookie, and what great news about getting to live in Seattle, Ardiril! MAZEL TOV, rmless2!!! Totally out of date re the Greek Islandsdrivig except for a recent cruise stop on Mykonos and day driving a jeep around the island tehre so I will just say that the simplest things -- esp. the food -- are the best there, and no worries re ferries because there is always one headed to an island you want to see.

1. Gorgeous, gorgeous weather here in Seattle environs. Soaking it up.

2. My only plans for this weekend are a facial and a massage. Aaah. I love having unscheduled time.

3. Still awaiting a working key for bike locker at my bus park and ride lot. My poor bike has not been out on my commute for ages now. What a waste of great weather. On the other hand, I am motoring through the audio books I listen to in the car en route to and from the park and ride.

Congrats rmless! And hello to Sookie as well. :)

1. Getting real fucking tired of my constant morning sleepiness. I wake up normally (somewhat) and by the time 930-11am roll around in my office, I am ready to just lie down and sleep. (And I have nodded off hard at my desk every day this week, argh.) I've put in an appointment request to my GP to see if he can run some bloodwork to see if I need to up my vitamin D dose. I'm going to pick up some B12 too and see if that helps.

2. I'm nervous about the dance performances I've got coming up. This weekend I've got a hafla where I'm doing a solo and a duet piece and then after the hafla, I have the Arabian Spices live webcast with a troupe in Houston. Next week I'm performing the sword choreography at a house party. I don't think I'm going to perform at the August hafla (mostly since I don't really have anything prepped for it) but then at September's Broadway themed hafla, I'm doing a 13 minute set with my usual duet partner and also AKD has decided suddenly that they want to do something too! AHHHHH! I told AKD already that I do not have time to choreograph or do anything other than learn the dance for that one. Shit, that means I have to pack ANOTHER costume and MORE PROPS. Fuuuuuuuck.

3. As always, I'm nervous about my finances. I've got 2 big trips planned next year (Art of the Belly and Pagan Spirit Gathering) and I haven't even started saving money for AotB yet. I'm just not making enough scratch. I think I'm going to have to talk to pops about lowering my monthly payments for the air conditioner fixing from 100 to 50 after the one on the 1st so I can hopefully try and make some headway on my credit card bill. (Of course, spending $60 on booze and food for a birthday party didn't help matters.)

1. I'm on Day 10 of my Juice Reboot and it's all going well. Most importantly, my psoriasis is beginning to fade away. I'm going to do the juice thing for 30 days, and I hope by the end of it I'll have seen some results in terms of weight loss and managing my psoriasis (which was the main reason for doing it).

2. Tomorrow I have an interview for a promotion at work. But all three of us in my team who applied are being interviewed, so the odds are against me. I've had to prepare a presentation on a subject I know nothing about, but thankfully people on Metafilter have been immensely helpful and kind. So I'm okay with the presentation, but it's the questions from the panel that'll probably fuck me up.

3. I'm so sick of this hot weather. I'm feeling so great and have so much energy that I'd love to go running on my working from home days, but by 8am it's already sweltering. Booo!

Congrats, rmless2! Hi kitty!

1. The people I work with have no idea what they're doing and are trying to crap months of work into a week & half so an internal app can go live. Next time someone says they need help with platform/backend crap, my answer will be "no thank you".

2. I have a trip to see relatives the first weekend in August. And the following weekend I'm having a cookout. I need to start panicking about cleaning as it's very much not so easy to do with the kidlet around.

3. I had lunch with my coworker & her niece (who also works at our company). It was quite entertaining but I can only shake my head at the niece's boyfriend shenanigans. Any guy who yelled at me at 5a about clean socks would be out on his butt by the end of the day. Probably explains why I'm single :)

1. The kittens got their final round of vaccinations this morning. I like taking them to the vet because the entire staff comes out to coo at them, and I feel like, "I have good cat-picking abilities!"

2. Tried to do a five-day raw food cleanse-type thing, gave up on day three because I have never felt so gross in my life. I've done juice fasts before and liked them, and I eat a lot of vegetables so I didn't think this was gonna be an issue, but... yeah. My body needs pasta.

3. I'm having professional head shots taken on Friday, which is what inspired the raw-food attempt (my skin very definitely looks better even with just the two days), and I'm nervous about it. I hate getting my photo taken.

Hi, Sookie! Congrats, rmless!

Big Congrats rmless2!

Yippee Ardiril and Sookie!

I worked for two full days on a job application for an honest to goodness full-time position in my field....has benefits even.....I really really really need this to work.

It's been so sticky hot outside that I've got a very clean house since inside is the place to be.

Best wishes to Senyar!

1. Day 8 (out of 10) of Vacation Bible Camp is completed. Day 9 is tomorrow. It's a small group - only 14 kids, with 2 teachers, 4 youth volunteers, and me holding it all together. I've never been to a VBC/VBS, never planned one before, and had no idea what to suspect. After having to throw out everything I planned after day 1 (what we were using for our teaching wasn't working), it's been an uphill battle all week. I've learned a lot - but I'm exhausted. My lesson plans for the teachers has evolved to, well, just being a lot of coloring sheets and word searches pertaining to a bible story rather than with a theme. I really have zero tools in my toolbox to flesh this all out but the kids keep coming back and like being there. We must be doing something right.

2. Chula (the cat) had some kind of allergic reaction on her butt a few weeks ago. Took her to the vet and got her full of shots. She had to wear a cone for two weeks (which is good for the joke making). Her recheck up today gave her a clear bill of health. No more conehead the cat today.

3. I.can't.wait.to.go.on.vacation. It starts on Friday, after camp, at happy hour.

1. Made fettuccini with white clam sauce for supper tonight. Came out rather well, considering I used canned chopped clams. A tower of them (they were on sale), with lots of garlic. Jon said it was delicious (he's easy to please).

2. Our apartment smells like cigar smoke. Our landlady's son/co-landlord smokes by the garage on the side of the house and our air conditioner on the third floor picks it right up. I think he's chain smoking the things. I suffered cigar smoke for years with my father (long rides from Connecticut to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for college with my nose tucked in my shirt) and I'm sensitive. I'm trying not to say anything. He hasn't raised the rent in a few years and I'd like to keep it that way. Perhaps I'll burn a candle.

3. I like this quiet part of the night. It's after one in the morning, and I've got Craig Ferguson on. I'm rarely up this late during the school year. I really should shower and dress tomorrow. Go for a walk, now that it's not so blasted hot. Get some bagels. I can't remember the last time I had pants on (or a bra). I guess it was Sunday, when we went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I have a new Bissell vacuum, but it's still in the box. I should probably go to bed.

(Congrats, rmless2-- such a beautiful bride!)

((Stynx-- have a fabulous time!))

(((Senyar-- 10 days just juice? Can you juice a steak?)))

Pips, the only thing Empress Elisabeth of Austria would consume was beef juice. She had a special press.

In TO for the last leg of the trip. It's finally the weather I had expected to get.

My father makes several trips a year to Seattle to see my brother and his friends from college but won't join me at the place I rented on cape cod. I may need to cut that short anyway.

Fighting a depression.
