Bragging time. What's the most awesome thing you've done this week? →[More:]
I went to a music club last night where they had an open mike and a booked performer (who was superb).

One of the open mike musicians had over-tuned his guitar and couldn't get it back, every twist of the keys made it sound worse. I said 'do you mind if I try?' He said 'go ahead' and within less than a minute I'd tuned it back (without needing a tuning fork).

I have perfect pitch.

Today I got an aggravated assault charge dismissed for a client of mine. He was accused of threatening a police officer with a handgun.

Very happy about this; it's the one really good thing that has happened in an otherwise bleak week!

Kicked off our weekend-long poetry festival tonight with a 300-person reading of Nick Flynn, Jill McDonough, and Tracy K. Smith, and holding down three full days of programming with multiple concurrent sessions, a big reception, tons of coordination...applying some much-needed left-brain action to this creative scene.

I was fire warden for my floor on Thursday evening and ended up helping evacuate my school due to an unexpected fire alarm. Turned out I was the only fire warden in my green safety vest, so I directed dozens of people to the right places outside, took roll, kept hundreds of students calm and organized, reassured other teachers, and then got back to class and taught my lesson with an adapted timetable that got everything done before the end without going over time.

On Thursday I'm being called in to discuss how we can improve the experience next time this happens!

So yeah, that was pretty awesome. :D
