30 April 2013

How did you do on your April Goals? [More:]

1. I will complete the '7th veil' choreography as well as polish/create another choreography for the next hafla.

I haven't completed 7th veil, but I've made progress on it. The song is only 2:30 and I should be done with it by now but I'm lazy and whatnot. However, I did perform my 'House of Cards' choreography at the hafla on Saturday and it seemed to be well received, even though I went second in the lineup and wasn't prepared for that.

2. I will polish the Shimmy Mob choreography to fucking perfection.

I'm feeling fairly confident about this choreography. I think teaching it to my 2 troupies was a definite help. We'll see how much my confidence holds out when I go to the very last rehearsal on the 7th. (The performance is on the 11th.) I'm definitely going to do it again next year.

3. I will finish the Zombies Run 5k training program.

Another close but not quite here. I still have to do week 8's training (3 slow jogs) and I'll only have time to do 1 of them on Thursday before the actual 5k on Saturday. However, one of my coven sisters who I'm going with has a nasty respiratory infection and the other one has been having knee problems, so we'll see how much actual slow jogging occurs. (TBH, my right calf has been hurting like a mofo since Monday night, which is crankypants-making.)

So, how have y'all done this month?
I had none so I did great!

1. Run my half marathon. This marathon I'm actually going for a (slow) time, rather than just being happy to finish, so we'll see how that works.

Done! I had two goals for this: the first was to beat 2:11, which is a 10 minute mile pace. I did that, with a 2:07 time. My second goal was to beat 2:03, which was my predicted pace after a good long run the weekend before. However, I ran out of steam a few miles before the end of the race and just jogged the last bit.

2. Pick up my cross stitch again. I've been making an *awesome* Last Supper banner for ages (I am not religious, it's just a fun thing to stitch) but I haven't picked it up in so long.

Well, I *moved* the basket with my embroidery in it? To make it more accessible?

3. Get two days ahead in my workload, which is where i like to be, by the end of the month.

As of about 10 minutes ago, done!

1. I will move back to California!

Done! Currently in Davis.

2. I will find an apartment into which to move!

As of today, done! Just got accepted to live at an awesome place. Will be moving in a week or so.

3. I will continue working out and eating not-horribly even though my routine will be all different!

50/50. I'm still eating fairly healthy, though I've been eating out more, so that's automatically more fat and such. But it's also way easy to eat lots of fresh veggies in California, so I've been cooking fairly healthy stuff.

4. I will consider whether I should stop using so many exclamation points!

Considered! Rejected! Done!

I did not do a single one of those things. I ran a few times (not three times a week), but the rest of it ... pah!

1. Go cheerfully through yet another round of pointless interviewing for a job where I work that is surely already decided.

Still no word. Outwardly I've been cheerful but I'm really sick of the whole thing.

2. Read more books that I've never read before.

Doing okay here. I finished Willa Cather's The Song of the Lark.

3. I will be doing my own lawn mowing this year (I hate lawn mowing), so I need to get myself psyched up for that. Also pick up all the sticks in the yard.

Sticks are picked up and lawn mower is assembled and ready for use. I might try it out today. Not looking forward to it but the grass won't mow itself and it is at least good exercise.

1. Get the book at least into outline form from all the scattered notes and slides.

Call it half done? It's in order and I have a better focus on what I'm doing with it.

2. Knit 10 lines on the mega blanket

That I actually did do. 232 stitches/line is no joke.

3. Get the work ticket queue down to nothing

Someone else did it, thankfully. I hate being the meanie. Sometimes.

4. Find the guitar tutorial I keep meaning to look for. I know how to play, but not how to read/play from sheet music.

Now this I didn't get done, so it goes on the May list.

Two out of three:

1. I will get over this miserable cold and recover my voice and ability to speak without coughing.

Yes!! Hurrah!!

2. We will have a fun trip to the UK and I will finish my upcoming half marathon despite a half assed job training and none lately ( see number 1).

Yes! And my time was decent in the half -- for me, anyway.

3. This month, I WILL finish my First Sweater Ever, which I haven't touched for several weeks.

Um, no. Bad me. I feel much less motivated as the weather warms.

Awesome Occhiblu! That's my old home town where I grew up, and my Alma Mater too.

As for my goals last month, I hit 2 out of 3. I did more walks with the dogs, and played with them in our more frequent April snows. I brewed a total of 34 gallons of beer. I didn't get to any photos, so I'll have to roll that one over to next month.
