Have you seen Life of Pi? [More:]I saw the regular version, not the 3D version. Loved it. Visually stunning. But I kept wondering if I'd made a mistake by not going to a 3D version. Have you seen it? Which version did you see? What did you think?
I saw the conventional version a couple of days ago. I enjoyed it. I don't think 3D would have added anything. As janky as 3D is right now, it might have made the story less convincing.

I am boycotting it due to the lack of transcendental numbers.

Personally I avoid 3D, it was a fun fad for a bit but really doesn't add much to most movies.

I read that the 3D was a distraction from the cinematography so I'm planning to see the straight up version.

I saw the 3D version. I wasn't even aware that it was in 3D. I didn't find it distracting at all, and I thought that Ang Lee was very restrained with the effects.

And yes, it's gorgeous to look at.

Let me clarify: before I went into the movie, I was not aware that it had been filmed in 3D. Obviously I was aware while I was watching that it was in 3D!
