Thank you, internet friends. We took a bunch of your suggestions for things to do in Columbus and have had a lovely weekend. [More:] Short North yesterday evening for drinks and dinner followed by Jeni's ice cream; German Village and the Book Loft today. Book Loft was amazing and like some sort of Halloween corn maze for bibliophiles.

Internet friends are a good thing. My friend just moved here a couple months ago to start her PhD, so she's new enough to have appreciated the suggestions, too.
So glad you had a good time.

What I love about the Book Loft is that every room has its own music. As well as spending lots of time looking at books, there were also a couple of rooms I stayed in just to hear the music (and then bought the CDs to enjoy later).

I'm glad y'all had fun.

Another interesting area to wander around is Grandview Heights. Between 1st St & 5th St of Grandview Ave, there's movie theater and a little open shopping center with stores (include the first Jeni's storefront -- there's a 2nd one in Dublin I believe). The guys I worked with liked going to Aladdin's Eatery for lunch. And there's a used bookshop on 5th St I liked to visit when I wasn't at the various Half Price Books stores around town.

I always say Columbus is a good town if you like to eat or shop :)

Yes! And we did make it to the North Market, which was awesome. I wanted to cook ALL the things.

I do miss Columbus the most out of all the places I used to hang out in the OH/KY/IN tristate. The music scene there (at least in the late 80s/early 90s) was phenomenal.
