Wednesday 3-point update [More:]
1. The week started out, quite literally, in a really shitty way. Someone sent a colostomy bag (used but empty) addressed to me at the office. There are some very sick and angry people out there.

2. But tomorrow we have a donut-eating challenge in the office, and it's also Pie Day in the cafe. I will need my running group tomorrow night.

3. The b/f is away at the Labour Party conference this weekend but I have MeFite iamkimiam coming down from Yorkshire to stay with me this weekend. We're going to a jazz club on Friday evening and there's a MeFi meetup on Saturday.
1. I'm going to see a midnight showing of The Fifth Element Friday night. I'm way too excited about it.

2. Work wise this week has been a slog. And my manager's manager made the mistake of asking me if I liked what I was doing. My answer was "no" and "you asked me this on the wrong week". But it looks like I'll get to help with implementation of a data quality and/or metadata tool with the goal of me helping to support it, which is what I want so it was a good conversation.

3. I also told her I was pregnant. She has proceeded to tell everyone for me. Which means I happily don't have to tell anyone. Sometimes having a big mouth manager is a perk.

1. My dad emailed me about my mom (who has ALS and can't communicate): "Today, the nurse told me that she was in such pain that she emitted a sound, which is almost impossible to do with the kind of trach that she has, since it blocks air from getting to the vocal cords. The nurse thinks that untrached, she would have been screaming." I know he needs to talk to someone about what he's going through with my mom, but man, that shit is hard to take.

2. Due in two weeks and getting nervous about the actual delivery. Every time I get a cramp I wonder if it's go time!

3. I wish there were more outlets available to me to relieve stress right now.

((((((((((((amro))))))))))))

1. I have been sick with a cold/flu for nigh upon THREE FUCKING WEEKS, and I am so done with this.

2. Next weekend is my beloved father-in-law's 75th birthday party, which I have helped coordinate. My biggest contribution was curating a photo album that we are having professionally printed. My copy arrives on Friday, and I am anxious to see how it turned out.

3. Work work work work work work work.

1. I hab a hed code. *sniffle*

2. But it's getting better.

3. Which is good, because I'll be going to Atlanta this weekend to see BoPo and Arn and to attend the Falcons/Panthers game WOO FALCONS FOOBAW YAY

Yesterday was my birthday.

We went to the very fancy restaurant in town, and it was awesome.

Did I mention that we were also celebrating MY NEW JOB slash PROMOTION???? This was a reach I didn't think I'd get, but after 7.5 years in the same desk, working my way up from administrative assistant to grad assistant to "temporary" project writer, I am now going to be a permanent staff writer here in the ol' office, with -- oh yes -- an ACTUAL OFFICE with an ACTUAL DOOR and an ACTUAL COAT RACK of my very very own.

4. The cable and internet are out until at least tomorrow, there go two more stress relievers.

5. Someone with TB spit on my husband (a cop) today. He is at the hospital getting checked out.

This day just keeps getting better and better. Trying to remember all the things I have to be grateful for.

Fussy baby today. Maybe he caught a little bug during the trip. Hope he feels better soon. We have to work on getting bottle ready for daycare! He's not great at taking one from me; hopefully Daddy can help out over the weekend. My pediatrician uncle hooked me up with all the formula in the world. Yay uncle!

Got two crazy new pairs of glasses from Zenni to use at the house, since one pair I liked went missing and one pair I didn't like broke. One pair is pale blue (#270516) and one pair is bright red (no longer listed). And I got a rainbow beaded chain to wear on the blue pair so I can keep them with me when I'm putzing around (although a chain and a baby don't really mix). I might look a little crazy but, eh, it's kind of fun.

So much clutter in my apartment, I can't keep up! I spent all weekend in Florida watching HGTV and now I want a house :( Apparently you can buy a really bad junky house and tear it up and make it fabulous. Surely that's just as easy as it looks on TV ;)

happy birthday, madamina, and congrats on the promotion!

My son (yeah, that one), passed his state certification test for pharmacy technician and got his registration number in the mail. Now he can get an externship. Yay!

Mrs. Doohickie had hand surgery today to free up some tendons that have been seizing up. She's glad the surgery is done but she's in a world of hurt right now.

And, my dog is awesome.

1. Damn. That's awful Senyar. A colostomy bag is nasty!

2. Orthopedic doc confirmed that I have torn ACL.

3. Kitties are enjoying open windows and cooler weather.

Hugs to Senyar and amro.

Congrats to Madamina!

1. I've been going to the gym regularly for the last two weeks and feel *so* much better in my body. My neck and shoulder muscles are finally starting to relax a bit.

2. I played with four new-to-me dogs at the shelter today, including an adorable shih tzu who played fetch with me quite enthusiastically. I'm not sure I've ever seen a dog run that fast, especially with such little legs!

3. I saw two Great Blue Herons in a field yesterday. They really remind me of ancient Russian dowagers wearing fur stoles, all fussy and creaky.

Wow! I go away for awhile and senyar has ANOTHER boyfriend? :-) (I am so delighted for you!)

1. I am in Redmond, Oregon, a beautiful small city in Central Oregon. Here for a pesticide applicator training which, on the face of it is silly, in that Friday is my last "official" day of work before my on-paper retirement. But through the quirks of the law, I can start collecting my well-earned retirement, plus, if my employer wants me (and they do) work 6 months in any calendar year. So that is Daughter's senior year, plus more.

2. My little brother tried to facetime me, which was confusing in that he has a blackberry and a PC. But I called him and he said he just got on iPad. So I said to wait till I got back to the motel wireless. Our 97 year old Aunt Dot is on her last couple days on this earth, and my brother thought that it would be comforting and distracting for our mom to face time me. She and her sister were very close and Dot is not dying very well or gracefully.

3. It has been incredibly busy. Still doing stuff to recover from the break in. I finally have a new computer, as does Wife. But all of the other stuff is slow in coming and there is more insurance money due, but not sure when. Our house is much more fortified, which actually feels shitty, that it has to be.

3a.The road trip to California was really intense, moving through to many people's lives, and then the second half at my mom's which has it's own intensity. We beat it home up I-5 in a little less than a day and a half. We'd engaged one of Daughter's friends, Millie, to watch the house, feed the cat, but don't stay there. About a minute before we rolled up, Millie broke an entire bottle of Stoly on our floor. And that is not nearly the worst she did to our house. It was a bummer of a homecoming but we were really glad to end the trip.

Yay for good things and boo on the bad ones.

1. Just got home. Left work early because of some serious chest pains and after calling my primary care doc (he wasn't in due to the holiday) and swinging by the urgent care place (closed and said they would reopen in September :-/) and my folks house--just wound up going to the ER. They did tons of tests (including one that made me radioactive!) and found nothing out of the ordinary to explain it and just think it is some muscle sprain/strain. Awesome. Still can't breathe deeply though.

2. MUST PACK ALL THE THINGS. Tomorrow we fly to the Bahamas for my brother's birthday. I have a feeling I'm going to spend most of the vacation lying down if this crap doesn't clear up. I've got laundry washing and I need to just continue throwing things in the vicinity of my backpack.

3. Yeah, this weekend is going to be awesome if I feel this shitty.

1. Much happier at work now that crazy evil boss got sacked. Work is still crazy but not evil crazy. It's amazing how much calmer I now.

2. Running in a 10K on Sunday which should be a blast. It's a big race (15,000 people I think) so it's a lot of fun.

3. The side porch of our house was totally demolished and sent to the landfill this week. It's going to be rebuilt in a couple of months to look just like it did (but not rotted and falling over) but the house looks sort of nude right now. It's going to be awesome when it's done: 300 square feet of porch with lots of gingerbread all painted in four victorian colors. We're putting a brick patio right behind it too so we should have some cool outdoor parties next summer.

1. I've been really sick for a long time now, and finally discovered it was due to a combination of a medication side effect and a brain tumor (just a pituitary tumor, but still).

2. I've been freaking out about work being mad over how many work at home days I've had and what a mess I've been, but I'm finally getting better and things were starting to look up.

3. Today I got severely demoted.

Oooh, there are some really bit ups and downs going on in Bunnyland. Thinking of you all.

1. Booked our trip to the Bahamas the other day. We need a beach vacation, and I'm thinking we really won't do much at all apart from lie on the beach and watch the kid dig holes. Of course, in the few days following booking the trip, we found out we'd be missing two kids' birthday parties and a dinner out for my husband's best friend's 40th birthday. Sigh. Can't do everything, I guess.

2. My mother left from her 3 week visit two days ago. My, that was trying. She is a difficult woman to engage with at the best of times, and she wasn't really having the best of times while she was here. And that's all I'll say about that.

3. What with my mother visiting and the kid starting public school, with its inevitable multiple days off in September, I am way, WAY behind in my work. Which is why I'm reading metachat, naturally.

00. I have a show tonight. I'm pretty psyched. It's turning into a Big Deal. (Well, relatively.)

01. Trying desperately both to find a new job and to hold on to the present one until I can find a new one.

10. I'm in the market for an affordable teleporter.

1. I'm leading a service at church tonight which should (hopefully) be a lot of fun. We've invited all the children and families in the congregation to come since we're talking about Anti-Bullying. Since I'll be there late, I decided to take the morning off. However, by take the morning off, I really mean planning Sunday School lessons, emailing constantly, and carrying Oliver around the apartment when he gets fussy. Ahhhh - the life of the intern.

2. Yesterday, I visited a congregant in one of the best nursing homes on the Upper West Side. I forget how depressing even the nice ones can be. I also visited another congregant in a not-as-nice rehab facility and I also visited a wonderful couple at their home but the gentleman has a busted hearing aid so I had to yell to be heard. I'm sure the neighbors heard my closing prayer down the entire hallway and out on the street.

3. I really kinda want some pizza right now.

Better days to the bunnys having tough times.

1. A lady backed into my car & drove off while I was inside the PO getting my mail out of my box. There were several witnesses who gave me her license plate #. Cops tracked her down & I'm now wrestling w/ her insurance douches over it.

2. The photographer for the insurance company in #1 came by yesterday to get pix. He wore a Federation of Starships polo & had a great sense of humor!

3. Business has been insanely busy again this year, hence zero playtime online. I miss it. :(

Feeling bad for all the sad or sick mechazens and their sick relatives.

1. Had a good meeting this morning and generally feel like I am if not kicking ass, at least patting some butts, at my new job.

2. Finally on my way home after over a week of continuous work trips, and I am really looking forward to seeing my bunny and my couch.

3. There are 4 loud drunk women near me on the train and I am alternating between finding their really strong Maine accents hilarious and wanting to suffocate them. JUST FOUND OUT- they are going to be in the audience tomorrow for Live with Kelly and Michael, so look for them, I guess. One of them apparently has a rich husband and likes to talk a lot about how rich he is and how hard he works so she doesn't have to work. DID YOU KNOW- this is the first time that they have been on a train?! When does it get in? How many stops will it make? Can you smoke? Where can we get out and smoke and get back on? SO MANY GREAT QUESTIONS FOR THE AGES

1. New (ish) job is going well and my whole team is getting lots of respect from others, so good on that front.

2. Got a notice that I have to attend two meditation sessions re arrangements for custody etc. They aren't compulsory but, if I don't attend, my ex will be given a certificate stating that I was uncooperative in the process and any court and other costs will have to be paid by me.

3. Home life continues to be stressful (we are still living in the same house, although separated), with conversations only conducted via e-mail or SMS (not my choice) and the kids caught in the middle. No end to this is in sight.

1. My sister is driving in from DC and will be here tomorrow night. With her boyfriend. Who I hate. UGH

2. My birthday is next week. I'm turning 30. Trying to be positive about it, or at least neutral.

3. Torchlight II is way fun.

1. I joined metachat, yay!

2. I seem to have relocated my writing mojo, which is good. Partially due to writing up my RPG campaign which is so many levels of nerdery I get a little embarrassed. But it's good practice and the rest of the cohort are happy.

3. Both me and the partner are still unemployed, with a homeloan and a three year old. Which is very much not good. Even so, I'm having fewer panic attacks now than I was three months ago while working fulltime.

I'm so sorry to hear of all the bunny tribulations.

Welcome, geek anachronism!
posted by Senyar 28 September | 06:35
I too am sorry about all the tribulations. Rough stuff.

I don't really have 3 points. About to start yet another weekend with . . . nothing much to do. I mean, I have books to read and a house to clean and stuff, so I'm not just staring off into space, but I don't seem to know how to be busy anymore.
