The Trilby theme Judging from my experience (watching spy movies with the person), most spies seem to have a theme song. So I wrote one to be prepared for my future career as an international spy.

Who's the white furry spy
In the litter box near by?
CAT!
Ya damn right!

Who is the cat that would risk his neck
To nap on that?
CAT!
Can you scritch it?

Who's the cat that won't hide out
When there're treats all about?
CAT!
Right On!

They say this Trilby cat is a bad mother—
SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
I'm talkin' 'bout CAT.
THEN WE CAN SCRITCH IT!

He's a complicated cat
But no one understands him but his vet
TOM CAT!

What do you think of it? I'm imagining it being recorded in a funk and soul style, with a long instrumental intro, a deep-voiced male vocalist and a female chorus. Maybe I could do backup too, and add a few yowls for effect.

Today's progress. This is the sound design for the instrumental intro. The primary rhythm is in place with some jams over the top to hear the instrumentation balance. Right now it sounds really busy and aimless, and I will toss the bulk of this as I get a better feel for the song. Tell me what you particularly like so I can emphasize it, and if you have a specific instrument you want featured, let me know. This is still a pencil drawing in a sketchpad--I haven't even primed the canvas yet, so I can make major changes without a problem.

I am using the same methods to produce this that Skrillex uses or the producers behind someone like Beyonce or Lady Gaga. With today's software, it's all point and click or cut and paste.

The next increment should blow your mind.

... but for that, you will have to wait until tomorrow night.
