How, in the hell, do you get rid of Malware? [More:]I tried, unsuccessfully, so that when I posted something up on my blog for you guys to read, you'd actually be able to read it, but I guess that was asking a bit too much from my computer... funny thing is, I have both google and firefox installed, so have no problem accessing the site from FF (I too can't log on from Google sadly).

So, this is about the only other option that I had at my disposal, since I'm not that good with computers that I can track down where the bugger is that's causing me all the problems... there are like scores of photographs posted on my site, and dozens of links, so I have no idea...

However, I do hope this helps, and you won't mind reading it if you can find the time.
If the malware is on your local computer you should run something like malwarebytes. And possibly spybot search& destroy.
If the malware is on your blog server you should contact your hosting provider I guess.

Deezil's profile on MeFi has a great set of instructions on malware removal.

Oh, wow, thanks Senyar... that Deezil guy really sounds like he knows what he's talking about... but then again, I'm hoping it's a connect-the-dots kind of a thing, because jouke sounds like he pretty much knows what he's talking about just as well, but I'll have to check it out tomorrow after a good night's sleep.

Thanks jouke!

My malware is named Comcast.

I think I may have worked for Comcast when I was employed by GE back in the day, and we may have even spoken to each other, and I must've definitely tormented you by not solving any of your problems hahaha.

I *never* call help desks. I find a connected computer and use Google.

Ardiril, that's the best HELPDESK there ever was, and you're your own operator! :)

I have successfully fought back two horrible malware invasions. Jouke's software advice is right on - download and run all those programs.

If you are using Internet Explorer, STOP, and never use it again. It's by far the most exploited browser for introducing malware. You don't get complete protection using Firefox or Chrome, but you get the benefit that most sleazebags aren't writing exploits for it. Download your MalwareBytes and Spybot in another browser than IE.

You probably won't eradicate everything with your first few scans. Get onto the support forums for those specific programs. You'll discover that the support forums are places where human beings hang out like angels and help people with lousy-ass computer problems. They may ask you to run a couple reports from your DOS prompt or similar and post the results. Just do as they ask, and follow their instructions. It amazes me that these virtualy white knights are out there to help on their own free time - but they are, and it's awesome.

Thanks Miko :)

I actually don't even care now that I have the virus (just the fact that there are people out there willing to help is kind of enough for me) but I will take your advice and download Spybot ((if I can)).

And yeah, who in the hell's still using IE I'd like to know, even though I have that installed on my comp as well, I usually just stick to Google, unless I have to access my blog, in which case it's Fox all the way.
