Weekend 3-point update [More:]
1. Today is Eurovision - yaaaay!! It's the one night of the year over on the blue where Europe rules and, for the most part, the Americans have no fucking idea at all what we're all on about (Eurovision is usually live-blogged on MeFi by those of us watching across Europe).

2. So, Eurovision party tonight, co-hosted by sueinnyc at her flat. I've been to the international supermarket so we have exciting things to eat from all over Europe, including wonderful Turkish bread still warm from the oven. I might tear off a hunk of the dactylo to dip in my egg. Then I have to bake things, involving filo dough and cheese, and make 42 little flags for each of the countries taking part. It'll be awesome. Even if the music is terrible (which it will be, but in a really good way) the food will be great.

3. I think tomorrow will need to be a lie-in and a lazy day.
1) Caffeine.

Usually, caffeine exacerbates my cardiac issues. I have one cup of tea and spend days miserable and having tachycardia and fatigue and brain fog.

But I've *been* having tachycardia and fatigue and brain fog, for months, and didn't know why. A few days ago, in desperation, I grabbed a caffeinated drink on the way to an event where I needed to be alert. And I discovered...I felt GOOD. Really, really, REALLY good.

So for a few days I've been taking caffeine pills and drinking tea. And I still feel good. Wow. Months of this misery, and I am feeling so much better. Oh man. Ohhhhh man. It's good to be back.

Here. have some photos of me riding Firefly yesterday:

2) I hope everyone else has a lovely weekend. Thinking of you, Stewie.

1. 8am and I have my 10km done.

2. Sister in law and her boyfriend are staying for the weekend. everyone is still asleep right now, even the 3 year old. Yay for quiet time.

3. Can't decide whether to go to the Mets-padres game or the one against the Phillies

1. This is one American who adores Eurovision and blesses the power of the Internet that enables her to watch it. Go Engelbert Humperdinck!

2. Monday is Memorial Day holiday, so 3-day weekend. Hoping for nice weather as I wouldn't mind driving down for a look at the ocean.

3. Just spent a horrid amount of money on transportation for an upcoming vacation to New York and Florida, so anything that costs any *more* money this weekend is OUT.

1. Brownies are baked.

2. Filo-feta roll-ups are baked.

3. I was forced - forced I tell you - to eat the little bits of brownie corners that were just a tiny bit overcooked.

1. Noisy neighbor problems continue. The people next door are finally decently well trained, now it's the people below THEM. They're farther away, but they're louder, too; we don't hear the music, we just get lots of bass. And they start a lot later- their party last night probably started around 2 or 3 a.m. and went until 8 a.m. We've complained to management and soon we shall begin to call the cops (311 for noise complaints). I know the drill now; they can try all they want but I will prevail. Plus I can't imagine we're the only ones bothered, so if others are fighting too, good.

2. Hospital tour today! And I'm not sure if I have any clean clothes that fit, eee...I could go to the laundromat, but even then, what would I wear??? Might be a yoga pants day.

3. Sunny, quiet Saturday morning before the tour. I just made myself some toast. The dog is laid out in the sun. In a few minutes, the showtunes radio show will start. I love lazy Saturday mornings.

1. Eat traditional custard-filled Bismark for breakfast. (check)
2. Avoid parade and attendant mob scene, likewise avoid cross-county multi-modal race and attendant mob scene.
3. Finish double oxygen-tank carrier, so I can get mobile for 12+ hours while pursuing evil-doers and likewise doing good through doing harm.

1. Making an apple clafoutis/flognarde for breakfast -- using this recipe. It's in the oven right now and is starting to smell delicious.

2. A bbq at 1 pm -- I'll be taking this Russian style mushroom and egg salad I've been wanting to make.

3. Lots of work to do. Sigh.

1. I drove down to my mom's house this morning. I'm watching tv while my mom & little brother are at church. My other brother is here annoying me and my aunt is taking a nap (and I will be nice and not make a snarky comment about that).

2. I will go see my bff and her toddler later today, which will be nice.

3. The rest of the weekend will involve me being annoyed with my family for various reasons. Reason #1: mom did not check the size of these shoes like I asked and now it's too late to send them back.

1. Slept at 5:30 (am) today, which is quite good, considering I had a sound 4 hour sleep.

2. Woke up, got dressed, and hit the road searching for a new house with mom.

3. Came back home, went and got some food, and had a very late brunch.

Senyar, remember Eurovision's "Apricot Stone"? I was just singing that in my head a few days ago and remembering you fondly...

1. My sister is in town and we've been having fun. Later this morning we'll go to the glorious Portland Farmer's Market and buy rhubarb and make delicious things with it.

2. The house is pretty clean, but there's a mountain of dishes to do. Procrastinating on this because

3. I'm very very tired, even after a good night's sleep. Turns out growing another person inside your body takes a lot of energy. He got the hiccups this morning, which was weird and kind of adorable.

So glad you reminded me it was Eurovision day!

1. First day post my opposite-sex domestic partnership day and my OSDP is in the bedroom asleep because he did overnight maintenance for the law school on Thursday and then also worked overnight yesterday trying to catch up from sleeping all day after we got back from the City Clerk's office.

2. His pre-OSDP present to me was giving me his monitor after helping me pick out an install a new graphics card so that I can play Diablo 3 and the Mists of Pandaria beta better.

3. Also? I quit my job and my last day will be on the 31st. Very interesting times ahead for me.

1. Getting a mild cold, thankfully not as bad as the last one.

2. I hate it when colors that look good on me are in style. That means I have to buy a lot of new clothes!!

2a. I'll post pictures of all my new shoes soon.

3. I don't understand people at all.

1. LUNGES! Even though I feel kinda crappy, like still-in-pajamas crappy, I got up off my hindquarters long enough to do some lunges. I do feel a bit better already.

2. The way to get me to do anything is to get a niece or nephew to ask me. I routinely say no to family and friends over items large and small; a niece asks and I pipe up "How soon?" Today's example: after resisting many months of friends' requests to play Words With Friends, I added the app immediately (like, 1 minute) after my niece asked if I'd like to play.

p.s., she is CRUSHING me, which is the coolest.

3. Okay, I admit it: I am already planning my birthday party. Yeah, it's almost three months away. Whatevs.

1. We are in Texas visiting friends. It is hot and we ate really good tacos last night - one was a lobster roll taco. Yum!

2. We might go to a gun range tomorrow. I'm excited since I want to buy a handgun and have no idea where to start, so going to a range and trying different types will be helpful and fun.

3. Just hanging out on the porch with our friends is awesome. We're having a bunch of good laughs.

1. The store was packed today. We sold out of 30 gallon water heaters by mid day. And it's only day one of the long weekend. The vacation house people are back and they always find much to repair.

2. Was lazy and simply plopped a frozen pizza in oven for tonight. My legs are tired.

3. I also don't understand some people. Some subset of coworkers are playing games with me and the weekday guy who does the same job. Third time they've hidden the keys to the equipment we have to use. Therefore things don't get done. How do they get their jollies from that?

1. Been ridiculously productive today; took a buttload of old videotapes to be recycled, got groceries, plus a couple of other errands. Now we have two whole days during which we can stay home if we want to.

2. My music collection re-organization is moving right along. Got everything A thru F on the shelves, got the classical collection in its own place, got most of the industrial music off in its own corner, too. I have so much ROOM in my den now!

3. Holy SMOKES it was hot today... 95F/35C. We never did turn the A/C on since we were gone most of the day, and the cats are in puddles all over the house. Pretty sure we'll have it on before we go to bed tonight (although if it gets down to the mid-60s as predicted, maybe not).

1. I am on day 8 of a 10-day vacation/holiday/super-extra-long weekend, 5 of which we spent camping/riding our way down to New Mexico and back to watch the annular eclipse on the 20th. Today was an "unscheduled" kind of day which means the mister is playing Starcraft and I'm internet slacking through a haze of exhaustion because:

2. I rode some new/old trails on the MTB today that I've not been on since 2007(ish?) and there are new trails, a bunch of reroutes, and all in all it was way more fun and vertically challenging than I'd remembered. Oofah, that was a lot of climbing in 3 hours, and at high(er) altitude, too.

3. Our new kitty has an extreme toe fetish. meaning: if anyone enters his presence wearing sandals, flip flops or barefoot; their toes, they shall be licked. It's hilarious, ticklish, cute and maybe also just a teensy bit gross, but yanno, cats are weird, and he's quite the character. He's currently lying upside-down on the couch next to me, gazing adoringly up at me like the furry little dork he is, waiting for me to get up and walk across the room so that he has yet more excuse to lick toes.

1. Was having a really cool dream with a talking sea lion in it and was really irked when the mister woke me up to go see The Avengers.

2. Really had to drag my ass out of bed to go see The Avengers. Not much sleep last night. Plus - cool dream! I hate it when I wake up from those.

3. Just got back from The Avengers. Oh Em Gee! Totally worth going to see.

PS: The bits of slightly overcooked brownies are the best bits!

PPS: Totally jealous of Galadriel and her horses.

1) Sounds like I'm having a better weekend than Eide. You alright, pal?

2) Woke up this morning to the news that my previously repaired guitar snapped overnight. It's been a long, frustrating story, that apparently, is not over yet. Now I'm back to playing the 12 string all the time. Which, you know, is no big deal, but i like the 6.

3) Otherwise, it's pretty quiet. Me and the girlies are just hanging out. Might try to hook up with a friend for a hike tomorrow. MAYBE.

I'm a bit better this morning. I slept on my shoulder weird and woke up in tremendous pain. Today, it's down to a dull ache. Well, smaller, but sharper. Yesterday, it was like there was a baseball wedged under my shoulder blade. Today, it's more like a striker (one of the big marbles).

I had a sleep study last night. I'll get the results in 2 weeks or so.

I have made the deposit for my birthday party. Watch this space. [                 ]

I'm watching this space! Not that I can go to NY :(

My PT gave me a lovely stretch for borked-up shoulders: grab something solid about shoulder height, and then just lean back. Ooooooooooh it's good.

Since I only had 2 points above, let me also share this:

3) I finished refinishing my tack trunk this week. I've had it for decades. It was always kind of embarrassing. It is now a stunning thing of which I am mightily proud, both for its appearance and for the things I learned and did myself in working on it.

Oh, yikes, that's so awful! I did kinda the same a few days ago: I dreamed I was stuck on a path between a rock wall and a loose pile of rocks, and then two people walked toward and RIGHT ON TOP OF ME.

I woke up yelling NO NO NO, but the crushing sensation didn't stop. Somehow I had managed to crumple up in my sleep so that both arms fell asleep up to the shoulder, which caused a throbbing knot between my shoulder blades. AWFUL. I so sympathize with you.

galadriel, that stretch sounds great. I'm going to try it today!

galadriel, your tack trunk is gorgeous! Well done!

Had a horrible night last night. Didn't sleep well, foot and leg cramps (I think I need to add potassium now that I'm on a diuretic) and I thought I was gonna toss my cookies and took Pepcid for that. Urgh. Still not feeling 100% this a.m. (well, now p.m.). I think I'm going back to bed.

1. Six hours of pulling weeds (actually, grass, but I don't want grass there) out of my flower garden Friday.

2. Longest ride ever with my wife on Saturday: 14 miles. Woohoo!

3. Hope to ride 20 miles with her tomorrow (her idea). Wish us luck.

1. Friday night, went to that Hotel India movie, whatever its called. It was OK. Better than it should have been, probably. Enjoyed it, although I am not raving about it. YMMV, depending on how close to geezerhood you are.

2. Saturday went for a long walk over to the pioneer cemetary at U of O. There was supposed to be some sort of display there for memorial day, but once we got there, wife said, "Oh it's at the OTHER pioneer cemetery, the one with the mausoleum! But a nice long walk.

3. Just played 2 hours of sand volleyball, starting at 8 am. Cold and sorta drizzly but it was maximum fun, with the people I usually play with at the gym, but the gym is closed today.

1. Was bicycling home the other night and was hit in the head by a drive-by water balloon. It was a good thing I had a helmet on.

2. Might get to live on a 5 acre sheep and vegetable farm that's just barely outside town and grow chickens.

3. Found a couple large olive branches on one of the bike paths outside town. I'm going to take a saw out there today and lop some of that wood up to practice woodworking on.

Had a really nice, catch-up R&R holiday weekend until Cat B decided to have lots of troubles with hairballs and constipation and maybe bowel obstruction. We're into it for $1500 we don't have already, and hoping he has a good night because I really don't know what we do if he doesn't.
