We have BBC America now! [More:]Woot! I was surfing through the channels over the weekend and happily discovered that Comcast has added BBC-A to our next-to-the-lowest-possible-tier. Beforehand, if we wanted BBC-A (which we did) we would have had to buy-up to a more expensive tier, full of other crap we didn't want.

That's all.
The interesting thing about BBC America is that a huge number of the shows you see badged as BBC were made for, and shown on, the commercial channels in the UK. It always surprises me when I see what's shown on BBC America when it was never shown on the BBC in the UK.

For the first time EVER, I'm sorry that San Luis Obispo has Charter Cable and not Comcast (available 25 miles down the road in Santa Maria). Also today I am regretting getting my cable services upgraded for $5/month less (getting a better box with DVR and a home phone, not more channels) instead of "cutting the cord" down to Internet-only, because the EXTRA-EVIL corporations behind COPA/PIPA get paid per-subscriber for channels I don't like (and a couple I do, he confessed). And if Charter were to turn un-evil next month and offer alacarte cable (pay only for the channels you want), I probably couldn't convert to it for 12 months. Sigh.

BBC America is going to have a great show on Thursday about a father with an autistic son. The NY Times gave it an excellent write up and I look forward to seeing it.

It's still in our digital premier lineup (the more expensive Comcast tier) in Philly.
