This made my day, which is something that I could never say about a TED talk before. (12 minutes)[More:]
When he talked about people saying "they have too much time on their hands", I was of two minds:
(1) People who complain that other people have too much time on their hands have too LITTLE time to enjoy life.
(2) People who TAKE THE TIME to complain that other people have too much time on their hands really do have too much time on their hands.
I loveTED talks and have showed some to my students. This man is brilliant. His joy is creating joy for others. No better goal exists.

Ok so probably I am about to say an ignorant thing because I am not actually from New York, and though I'm a stone's throw from Chicago I haven't spent much time there. But if I were the girl on the bus, I would have totally said something to the first guy. And if not the first guy, then definitely the second guy. (And thus would probably have ruined this experiment, or at least made it very different.) I wonder how many times he did it before he got people who actually didn't say anything through SEVEN stops. Or was it actually the first try. I wonder. (For the record, I would have made a friendly sort of comment and talked about the fact of his not wearing pants at length if he engaged.)

I'd seen a few of those other things and they are very cool.

Thanks for the post, foop. I love IE and don't understand people who spew bile about it. If you don't like the humour, that's fine, but to hate it? That's just weird.

Another good TEDTalk is the one with Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs.
