How does your email closing line come off? I am usually at a loss, but whenever somebody uses "Cheers", I find it hard to resist replying with "Cheers, Frasier and The Tortellis"...[More:]
Actually, my most frequently used closers are "What more can I say?" and "Keep up the good work"...
I usually stick with

Kisses,

I don't use anything. I just put my block signature, because otherwise I feel like it looks weird.

So I just say...

"Thanks!

Madamina
Madamina's Office
Place

Phone
Fax
etc."

The one that kind of bugs me is "All best" or "Best." All best what? I know it's probably regards, but it just seems a little weird.

I think mine probably comes off as brusque, since for daily-chat or daily-business kind stuff, I don't use a valediction but just sign my initals. I'll tell you what, though: they ALWAYS know where the end of the email is, which can be useful if it's a long exchange with a lot of back-and-forth inline quoting.

I just sign my name.

With family it's "Love,me" or "Love, Deborah". With friends it's just "Deborah", perhaps with a "thanks!" involved.

I say "Cheers" which is the British way of saying "Thanks," "Take care," "So long for now," or "Bottoms Up" depending on context. Only the last one is remotely drink related and most people understand that I'm English ... I'm *allowed* to be eccentric ...

I am one of those jerks who uses neither salutations nor closings in email.

I have "Thank you. [Signature Address Block]" programmed into my email at work for precisely this reason.

Hmm, needless to say my closings to my Bear involve love, hugs and kisses.
With my close family, I sign with love and sometimes hugs.
For people I like quite a bit, I default to "Take Care" and "All My Best"
Otherwise usually my name.

I've gone to "best" at work. At least it signals "That's everything in the email" and it isn't too personal nor too impersonal.

THere are some people who use little taglines as sign offs - "peace, love, and hairgrease" and that kind of thing - and I have an allergic reaction to that.

We're supposed to use a corporate signature block at work and every few months marketing sends around an email asking us to change to a different signature block for whatever stuff they're peddling that month. These include embedded jpeg files with the corporate logo, that they just updated with a new font (woop!).

Out of the ten or so of us in my team, I think one person actually bothers to follow that corporate directive. I usually just end them with "thanks, [my name]"

My initials.

I like "Cheers," because it's friendly and just a little flippant. But also sort of hints that this interaction is over and no response is expected. I'd be sad to hear it came off badly. If not "Cheers," the unobtrusive formal-as-it-needs-to-be "Thanks,".

Between "Cheers," and "Thanks,", that about covers it for me. Most everything else seems too stuffy or serious or pretentious or wanna-be clever or cutesy for this old fleacircus. Or maybe I should say that if I feel like doing those things, I put them in the body where they belong.

I can't find "later fuckers!" on that scatter graph.

Though, to be clear, I don't use THAT one at work...At work, I use "thanks" if it's appropriate (which is the failing in putting the word "thanks" into the automatic sig - it's doesn't always make SENSE to say thank you).

Generally I use the initial of my first name, and a period. That's about it.
