Help desk hell. Ugh, I'm on call at work this week, and I have a call in to our IT partner.→[More:]I'm in help desk hell. I have equipment down, and I've "engaged" our IT partner. I'm in chat with the help desk operator in India who is trying to get the networking subcontractor involved who will need to get their monitoring subcontractor involved. It sucks to be me, and even though I'm getting overtime for this, I'd rather be sleeping...

I finally got off the computer at about 2:30 AM, and was woken up twice after that by phone calls. Ugh. Not the kind of fun I had planned for last night, that's for sure.

So, they finally resolved the issue 14 hours after my initial call. I am off work today, so the guys who are in covered. The really sucky part is that they should have been able to route the problem to the proper people within 15 minutes of my contact with them, instead of 10 hours, and attention should have been focused on the problem 15 minutes after that. Instead, it took 14 hours. I got a bunch of overtime, which is fine and dandy, but the disturbance to my family life isn't worth the money that incompetence brought me. I had already decided this, but I really hate outsourcing right now...
