in this thread you will drop the sexiest songs you know (not necessarily songs to get it on to)[More:]

so I just heard Prince's "Little Red Corvette" a few days ago and I'm like goddamn. What else am I missing out on? Here's some on my list:

Prince - Little Red Corvette
GnR - Rocket Queen
Garbage - Sex Never Goes out of Fashion + Queer + Supervixen
Pink ft. Peaches - Oh My God
Lovage - Stroker Ace

Previously: come in here and list SM-ish songs
Wicked Games by Chris Isaak has to be on that list.

The Hokey Pokey is still what it's all about.

Chewy Chewy, Chewy Baby!
Do it to me, Chewy. Chew me out of my mind.

---

So darlin' don't be weepin'
And please don't you be sleepin'
When I come creepin' down the hill
To see ya
Singing "La da da, la da da"

--Jingle Jangle

So many more...

the thing that made me suddenly pay attention in the Prince song is this part:

Believe it or not, I started to worry
I wondered if I had enough class
But it was Saturday night, I guess that makes it all right
And you say - "Baby, have you got enough gas?"

and then he replies almost screeches "ohh yes". just that turn of phrase "but it was saturday night, i guess that makes it alright" is great.

JL, I know that one.. it's interesting, it's almost from another era in terms of how much she's playing up the feminine vulnerability

Until the very last line, anyway.

Strict Machine by Goldfrapp. Or, you know, anything by Goldfrapp. More like GoldFAPP, amirite?

(god I feel so dirty)

Also anything by the Afghan Whigs.

Kate Bush - "The Sensual World"
posted by Trurl 12 May | 13:42
ohh yes Running up that hill is up there too. Here's a cover by a Placebo
posted by Firas 12 May | 13:50
That placebo cover is one of my favourite covers of all times. Which reminds me that I was going to start a thread about that, at some stage.
posted by gaspode 12 May | 13:58
gaspode, Placebo is an old favorite with me ever since I heard "every me every you" in that movie Cruel Intentions. I've almost broken on a tragic hot day listening to "song to say goodbye", done many last-hurrahs in the gym looping "scared of girls", zoned out to the creepy "pure morning", they're great. I think though, when I was going through a terrible time in my life I didn't actually understand that music like that wasn't just sustenance it was also complicit in layering the darkness so it's a double edged sword
posted by Firas 12 May | 14:04
Lots of stuff by Portishead, and "Secret" by Maroon 5.
posted by rainbaby 12 May | 14:12
The Brothers Johnson - Strawberry Letter #23 (forget that it was featured in Jackie Brown during a violent scene, this song is liquid sex)
Nine Inch Nails - A Warm Place
Madonna - Don't Tell Me
Depeche Mode - Sea of Sin
I Don't Know - Theme from Star Trek The Next Generation episode "The Inner Light"
If anyone has any information about the composer of the last one, please share. This is just a beautiful piece of work (great for dancing/foreplay) and I don't think it's "official" as far as Star Trek soundtracks go.

And I think that's enough wasting bandwidth with YouTube videos of music ;-)

Oh, also a BUNCH of music from Showtime's Queer as Folk could be considered--natch--mattress music. This is a very good archive of music from the show.

Yes, Afghan Whigs -- especially Something Hot. rrrrawr.

Jeff Buckley: Everybody Here Wants You

And you'll laugh, but... Sex Bomb (Peppermint Radio Mix) by Tom Jones.

I also like stuff like Blondie and Siouxsie that is a little swoopy but also kind of gritty and driving at the same time. One Way Or Another, Call Me, This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us, that sort of thing.

I thought Personal Jesus was pretty dang hot when it came out.

Call Me, for sure.

WolfDaddy, thanks for expending your bandwidth on this :) I like the NIN track
posted by Firas 12 May | 16:23
Firas, I didn't even know this was a NIN track. I picked it up from, uh, an XTube video and the music and visuals together were very, uh, stimulating. Took me a long time to chase down the track, as I'm not very familiar with NIN's discography.

Massive Attack-- Paradise Circus

Placebo-- Bubblegum

WolfDaddy, the first time I heard Eurythmic's Sweet Dreams was in a similar situation and I was really young. That leaves a signature for the song

Summer -- Bobby Goldsboro
posted by JanetLand 12 May | 16:52
Oh, god, I can't even go into how many Eurythmics/Annie Lennox songs I'd add here. Too many. So let's have a DJ Earworm mashup instead.

Okay one more (can you tell I'm planning a date tonight?)

Jeff Beal - Cleopatra Seduces Caesar - from HBO's "Rome"

Very sultry.

Mouth - 90's Bush song from American Werewolf in Paris I think...

Barney Bentall - Do ya. Sigh.

Sorry it's not a great quality video - the audio is not in sync with the video. And if anyone knows where I could download the song online, I'd be most grateful. I don't mind paying but I just haven't been able to find it.

Closer by NIN
posted by Splunge 13 May | 08:10
Yeah, Madamina. Agree with Goldfrapp, although I think I'd have gone with Twist. Which makes me think of Raspberry Swirl, by Tori Amos. For Prince, I'd go with Darling Nikki. Kinda' Kinky, by Ursula 1000, is fun (both sexy and surprisingly PG13). Pussy, by Brazilian Girls is always a crowd pleaser. Sexy Boy, by Air. For oldies, there's always Sex, by Berlin, Super Freak, by Rick James (*****!), and Precious, Tattooed Love Boys, and Bad Boys Get Spanked, by The Pretenders. I was totally going to post Closer, by NIN, until Splunge beat me to it. Undress Me Now, by Morcheeba. Got to Give it Up and Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye, are both classics of the genre.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
I love this thread, can we sidebar it?
