12 April 2011

What do you want to accomplish this week? I'll go first.[More:] Finish the methods and results sections of my paper, including finalizing all figures. Rewrite the discussion and introduction sections for a third time based on feedback from my advisor. Pin all my thesis committee members down to a particular date and time for my qualifying exam (perhaps the hardest task on this list).
On the list of chores -- file taxes, clean my bedroom up some.

How about you?

I have a friend visiting this weekend, so I'd really like to get the house straightened up by Friday evening. I have allergies from hell, though, and am having a hard time with even basic functioning.

1) I'm hoping to continue to help my no good, lousy, rats-a-fratsin' back to settle down some more. It's been sore for about 4-5 weeks, and I'm getting a little tired of it. Chiro/physio efforts have not magically fixed ANYTHING. Jeez.

2) I'm also hoping to find a way out of this tremendous GRUMP I've found myself in. Life's pretty good, apart from some relatively minor stresses, I need to let this foulness GO.

3) And...I hope to continue to plan my road-trip vacation for this summer. I'd like to leave NOW. But...I shall wait, honest.

At the risk of sounding saucy...Perhaps I'll pull the covers OFF Specklet's head?

Good god I really need to cross off everything on that to do list that's been on my desk for weeks. Stress stress stress.

I need to get back in the groove regarding exercise. I also would like to finish the afghan I'm knitting for a wedding present. Then I have to figure out how to get it, and me, to the wedding in June.

Get my final papers written for LibAdmin and GovDocs...which I haven't started yet (except for doing the research).

Finish reading the last ACA book I have out so I can ship the current batch back to WSU (and it looks like they shipped out my next batch already, so hopefully they'll arrive soon so I have something to read on the train on Friday).

Get my extended hours scheduled straightened out with my boss and his boss and the payroll people so I can actually *start* them (which my boss says should happen next week).

Not completely collapse at the end of the week (since I added a gym session this week to my schedule, which is almost full).

Mine is simple: to have my ribs stop hurting from my puke-a-thon on Saturday (migraine, didn't used to vomit, guess it's a "thing" now).

Oh, and to not bail on my dentist appointment on Thursday. My dentist and hygienist are so good, but I still hate going there.

I would like the church council meeting on Thursday to not be canceled due to low attendance. So, whatever I can do to make that happen, I guess- calling around to get people in gear. I already chided Pastor for even suggesting the meeting could be canceled, since I know that makes people more likely to flake.

Continue to clean out my closet in anticipation of switching out the fall/winter for spring/summer.

Go to the grocery store and buy fruit for the rest of the week.

Go to bed at a reasonable hour instead of staying up late wound up about nothing. I succeeded last night.

Drink wine! Current drink of choice.

Getting out of the house would be good. So sick of this depression.

  1. Deal with the 15 e-mails that are cluttering up my inbox and need lots of attention to get rid of them without getting distracted by the 50 or so new ones that will come in today
  2. Go to boot camp tonight
  3. Go to runners' group Friday morning
  4. Do another (shortish) training hike on Sunday
  5. Wash the cars Saturday
  6. Continue with the gardening work I've been neglecting on Saturday
  7. Take the kids to Sea Wold Saturday
  8. Tidy the place up a bit
  9. Organise a quote for the driveway
  10. Finalise all the other quotes to finish the house off
  11. Lots of other stupid shit that I can't remember.

I had a wisdom tooth yanked today, so my goals are modest:

1. Do not OD; I keep forgetting whether I took my Vicodin, so I'm making The Fella dole it out to me as allowed.

2. Spend at least the next 2 days on the sofa, doped up and watching movies.

3. Work my way up to solid food.

and anything else is a bonus. I cleared my schedule just in case something went pearshaped and I needed a longer recovery time, so my next commitment is the MeFi meet-up on sunday.

My list says:

pet food store - the dogs are on fancy grain free food now, argh.
ingles - the supermarket
library
BB & B - bed bath & beyond, where I get the canisters for the seltzer machine
oil change
water filter
fish filter - need to change the one in the aquarium
call Memorycare - reschedule auntie's appointment again
taxes
airbeds - this is a paying catalog copywriting gig I need need need to get on
mow
garden
clean
vacuum
bathroom
water plants
bank

I only crossed off Ingles and library today. This is not a good start to a list that needs to be mostly done by Thursday evening so I can work all weekend and starting with library means I just want to stay in bed with my lovely pile of novels.

I am in a holding pattern due to finances, so I am doing a lot of planning. The good news, though, is that I do in fact have a *mission*.

Eid, me too. My 1st response to the question was "survive." I MUST do some taxes. from 2008. umm yeah, my life? falling apart. One gets used to it.

Also, possibly dancing at the New England Folk Festival (NEFFA).
