Um?! so. I find myself in Bama. Laceys Spring, just outside Huntsville... [More:]...What should I know? Schedule unknown and very fluid.
BitterOldPunk and elizard live in Birmingham. You're not far from Tuscumbia, where Helen Keller was raised...and I'll be in Chattanooga TN from the 6th to the 13th.

I think I'm here till the 8th (Don't ask. It's complicated.). I must be off to bed soon. I will pick this up in the A.M.

The U.S. Space and Rocket Center! It's only about 13 miles/25 minutes away.

If that doesn't float your boat, there are a few other local attractions here. This AskMe thread is also good, if a little out of date.

Cathedral Caverns state park isn't far from there- really beautiful and worth seeing.

Also, the big TSA dam at the southern end of Lake Guntersville is fun to tour, if you like that kind of stuff (I do). The town of Guntersville itself is very pretty, though not a lot to do there- it's just a small town, not a touristy spot. But there are lots of cool overlooks if you drive up the mountain, with good views over the lake.

If you're into barbecue, don't miss Big Bob Gibson's in nearby Decatur.(More about Gibson's history)
