must-visit places in New Orleans?→[More:]
Assuming one has never been there before and is hoping to go in a bit over a month but expects to have a very limited amount of time while they are there....
Whatever the name of that BBQ restaurant was that ColdChef and the rest of us nuts tried to go to in August, but they had shut down because their cooking vent hoods had broken down and the place was filling with smoke. Said smoke was so saliva-inducing intoxicating, we wanted to EAT IT. And we were sad because we could not eat there, nor could we actually eat the smoke.
ColdChef will remember the name of the place, I was pretty drunk the entire excursion so I cannot remember it for the life of me.
I enjoyed walking in the Garden District, listening to music/drinking in the French Quarter, shopping at the outdoor markets in the French Quarter, and beignets and coffee at Cafe DuMonde. all touristy, but for good reason. I was there pre-Katrina, and did not know ColdChef then, to my great regret. So I'll just have to go back some time. The Mississippi River is pretty amazing too, leave Cafe DuMonde and go walk by the river.
Email me directly and I'll try to get down there to show you around.
And the place is called "Squeal" and we wanted to go there for the cocktail list. Glazed Ham
Sounds funny but this drink is delicious:
Our house bacon infused vodka, brown sugar and ginger simple syrup, and pineapple juice
garnished with a cherry.
