My mobility difficulties will keep me from seeing David Sedaris when he does his show at the theater at Cal Poly next week...[More:] but I liked the write-up in the local dead tree news. Especially the punderful headline on the front page: "Sedaris Talks Pretty at Poly".
I paid $35 to see him perform live and I saw him for free at a bookstore signing, and the bookstore was better. He did just as much, performance-wise, and then he stayed after and spoke to every single person who wanted to talk to him, and signed everything put in front of him.

So I guess what I'm saying is, save the money and check him out at a book signing if you can.

Maybe they'll stream it online or record it for the university archives. When I was at Iowa, the readings at Prairie Lights were broadcast on the local NPR.

Not a bad idea, brujita... if only I knew somebody involved with Cal Poly's radio station... but wait, I do! FILTHY LIGHT THIEF, GET TO WORK ON THIS.

(no, I'm not getting into CAPS LOCK DAY; I just knew he wasn't in this thread so I raised my voice so he could hear me.)

BTW, previously... I may still make it for Colin Mochrie's improv show, the road company of "Spamalot" or (upon a surprising recommendation) Jack Hanna's animal show.
