27 December, 1943 A scanned picture of my grandfather in New Guinea during WW2.[More:]
What I love about this picture is how relaxed they look having a snack and a cuppa.
That is a fantastic photo. Your grandfather is one of the guys with his shirt on!

Did he have any stories about his time in Papua New Guinea?

I've always found that place fascinating.

Wow .. this is really neat for me to see. I used to work in TV news and I went to Papua New Guinea in 2003 to do a story on how the US Army sends teams there to recover the remains of servicemen who died there during WWII. Covering this story was definitely a career highlight and PNG was an absolutely amazing place to see. Thanks for sharing this picture.

War isn't something you talk about with your granddaughters or daughters. The stories are reserved for ANZAC day when you see your mates, drink and remember lost comrades.
