dealin with a Kafkaesque credit card situation and am tired as well, and well, this just makes me think[More:]

How effed up is it when people deny reality to your face? how does that work?

I was just skimming this info about a person in the US military who got dismissed under some DADT angle and John McCain was banging on in a hearing about how, no, there was no possibility that the manner in which their being gay was brought up in the way it did. And--what, B? It did! You're gonna sit there and tell them something that happened didn't happen? How the ****

The situation with this credit card issue is that each time there's some new person, some new person trying to collect the money, some new person offering an arrangement, some new story about why the previous one didn't hold up. And they don't know who this previous guy was, do I have a receipt? Do I have their name? Do I have the arrangement in writing? Ooh that dude was wrong. Him? I don't know him. And I'm like wow at these cats taking money and putting it as payment on my statement but always having some new story about what's going on with my account.

I'm getting a new phone line to my house, to have like a business line on top of the regular house landline and mobile. Aight so this dude comes from the company, putting all my information together, taking an upfront payment. And I start trying to tell him, that occasionally the current line we have, the one with Internet--it develops issues. This being a third world country things happen, people have festivals and things get cut, things melt, and this last time 'the copper started having issues' is what they told me aight. So there's like twice or thrice an year the line goes dead for maybe 12 hours, maybe a couple days(!). And I'm familiar with the dude who handles technical fixes for the company in this area, I got him in my address book, he's competent and gets things done. So it's definitely a regular enough occurance. And I'm asking this guy, this guy doing the signup, whether this new line can be brought from a different place, laid in a different way, that doesn't expose it to trouble so much. And this newbie dork is tellin me that there is no such thing as outages in their lines. I'm like, no this happened and then that happened. He's like if there's an outage for more than 15 mins you tell me. I told him about the copper and he dismissed that as a 'story', this random form-collecting-staff dude. I figured nothing was gonna work here and let him go.. later when they were about to install the line my guy, the technical dude said we're gonna try to rig this a different way. So at least he intervened eventually. But you know? If he weren't around? How does something that actually happened and caused me huge amounts of trouble no longer happens?

I suddenly need detailed logs of everything and records of conversations and the full name of everyone to just confirm my memory now of what actually happened to me and I talked about with em? It was 100% real when it happened what now it doesn't exist? I know I probably sound inexperienced and dramatic here but I'm just sayin, if this was a bigger issue than the actual issue afoot it'd be crazy

This is going to end abruptly.
I don't remember what country you're in but I hope it has national health care, because the level of frustration you describe happens all the time with health insurance companies in the US. My sympathies.

I'm not clear on what's going on, but yes, it probably would help to write everything down on one pad of paper, then keep notes of your phone conversations, including date, time, and name of person to whom you are speaking.

We just went through the endless phone call rigamarole after being pickpocketed of all our credit cards overseas, and this really helped.

Thanks for the advice/sympathy desjardins & bearwire. Yeah I wasn't complaining about the credit card situation per se (I'll handle it) as much as just this idea of walking into an alternate reality in your daily routine where you just have to aggressively mount a defense of what actually happened. Like the phone dude situation bothered me more. It's just weird and makes me anxious like if I ever end up on a court case over something I'm gonna know exactly what happened and these dudes are gonna lie through their teeth? How the f---

I was trying to tell this guy at a store that I wanted to fix a solid state hard drive in my laptop and dude was like.. save your money, upgrade your RAM, get a new laptop.. and I'm like.. I want to get a solid state hard drive in this laptop, do you know anyone who'd be able to get their hands on one.. and this guy is just gonna sit there and deny that switching out your hard drive can increase your computer performance incredibly if you go from a spinning to a solid disk

I'm bothered by this idea that I'm suddenly have to start advocating for myself in an extreme way if I want to have dealings with these parties. But c'est la vie I guess
