It's nice out. Perfect walking around and taking pictures weather. [More:]

I decided to test out my new Golden Half camera, so I set out to Morioka to snap some pictures. The Golden Half guys (Superheadz, I think) were nice enough to include a roll of 24-picture 400 ISO film, which means I got 48 shots to use. This also means I took pictures with abandon.

I thought I was being clever when I had the pictures developed when I had them put the pictures on CD, as I have no good film scanner, and I didn't want to spend the 35¥ x 48 on prints. They scanned the pictures at 72dpi, so bleg. So the pictures, while expected to be a little grainy, are pretty grainy.

But they look like they're 50 years old, and that's wonderful. No diptychs for now. Maybe I'll put together a few later on.

These are so cool! I love the tall and skinny aspect ratio. (Esp. for pics like this.)

A film scanner will save you money in the long run- my camera shop charges almost a dollar a pic to scan them to CD, and like you said, they always do it way too low-resolution.

I love Japanese vending machines. That one was particularly great.

I've been looking at a nice film scanner (or even a decent one), but I can't justify spending the money right now, especially after this purchase. Maybe I'll save my pennies (or 1 yen pieces).

Nice work! I love the strong diagonals that draw us into your pictures, and the consistent use of contrasting shapes (rounded/natural versus square/rectangular.)

Yes, it's a SuperHeadz job. Smallest 35mm? Split shots? Very keen. And those colors look lurrvly. SuperHeadz are some crafty cats.
