The Fourth Kind (spoilers) Has anyone seen this movie? We just watched it and I need to discuss...[More:]

How much of the videotaped footage is real? Is any of it real? Or just the audio? I don't think the police footage is real because one of the deleted scenes is the police footage from the murder/suicide of "Tommy" and his family. Also, did you see the woman psychiatrist's mouth at the end of the "last night" tape? It looked like her jaw was hanging from her face by the skin alone.

I don't think I believed in alien abductions before seeing the movie, and now I'm second guessing my earlier dismissal. It could be because the movie did freak me out - or because this really did happen to these people (?).

My brain is tied in knots and I'm now scared of owls. The owls will get me! When they were taping the session with the man in bed, and the man sat straight up and started screaming, I spilled my glass of soda all over myself.

Please share your thoughts on the film and/or alien abduction.
I just got a mystery prize over at FarmVille and it's a white owl!!!!!!!! I am going to die!!

It was my understanding that the whole film is a contrivance loosely based on actual events.

The face falling off thingy: there was quite a bit of CGI on the woman being "interviewed" to alter her eyes and face. I thought the lady being interviewed was quite the crap actor.

I did enjoy the movie though. MAN! It freaked me the hell out of my mind that night. I didn't sleep a bit.

Once I suspended my disbelief, which was easy to do with this movie, it took me for a terrifying ride.

Now, alien abductions - are they real or not? I've long believed that they are real (even though i realize there is no credible evidence) but I don't understand those people that say aliens are here to help us. They are ABDUCTING people against their will!

After this movie, BTW, even the thought of seeing a ufo makes me want to run the other way.

I wish they'd abduct my cat. It would serve them right, to have a UFO full of cat hair, and she'd probably poop in the pilot seat. They'd come back from cow mutilating and be like, "What's that smell?" And they'd not be able to pinpoint it because the ship is so small. They'd shrug and think maybe they'll fly up to high orbit and pop the hatch and flush the whole cabin, but when they sit down *squish* it's one of the really moist ones right on the butt of their silver overalls.

And later when they go into their sleep pods, my cat would get hungry and come up and sit right next to their heads and stare at their faces creepily and they'd wake up with this giant cat head right there and if they tried to ignore her (which they'd do, because the amount of time you want to sleep is longer than the amount of time the cat feels is appropriate time between meals), she'll start purring and nuzzling their faces with her nose which seems cute until they realize maybe she is sniffing their eyes because that's what she wants to eat first. And if they ignore THAT she will go find that flux capacitor they left sitting out and knock it off the shelf to smash and wake them up.

And my cat would sit in strange places, hidden under chairs, behind consoles, on the shelf above the spacesuit storage, following them discreetly from room to room, always monitoring. They'd look back and see a dark silhouette down the hallway, the cat sitting calmly in a doorway, staring back at them, and they'd realize that this whole time, she was watching.

I'd be happy to be abducted by aliens right now. Then I wouldn't have to go to my job interview tomorrow.

I was intrigued by the snatches of Sumerian in the movie, and after a little searching found this article by a Finnish linguist attempting to translate them. I like the layering of ancient religion it adds to the UFO abduction woo-woo -- it gives the whole thing an Exorcist sort of vibe.
