Etiquette lesson, the hard way. [More:]

This afternoon I was at the deli and a family (mother, father, daughter about eight, son about six) waited for their order ahead of me. The young girl says, "My brother doesn't share. What I do is, I slap him, I slap him right in the face, and then he shares." The boy just shrugged and nodded.

It's tough being a younger brother.
Well, he wins 10 points for honesty, that's for sure!

My youngest brother had a really hard childhood. Even my sister, the youngest of all four of us, would kick his ass.

Eh, Pips does the same thing to me at home, don't let her fool you.

Slapping? I'd've begged for slapping. My (nearly 4 years older) sister used to toss me down the stairs. Regularly.

At least they were carpeted.

Except for the bottom one, which was bare wood.

I can still kick my older brother's ass. And he's got a fourth degree black belt in Kuk Sool Won.

He's five years older than me. One time just after he'd started going through puberty I kicked his nuts twice in one day. If you're stupid enough to try the same move on me twice in one day then you deserve to get kicked twice in one day. Both times it ended up with him on the ground in tears. HOW DID HE NOT LEARN HIS LESSON THE FIRST TIME? (I got a big lecture after I kicked him the first time...I understood that what I was doing was wrong/bad. BUT HE WAS TRYING TO STRANGLE ME, again.)

Somehow he also managed to put an elbow through windows on three separate occasions while chasing me around the yard/house.

I should mention that I'm best friends with my brother. We talk on the phone every day even though we're thousands of miles apart. We don't actually get in fights as adults. More often than not what happens is that he says something that annoys me and I punch him in the gut and he stops.

I never fought with my brother as a kid and as an adult I never speak to him.

So, there's that.
