Dating AskMecha: because I can't find my peeps on gtalk...[More:]So I went on 1.5 dates with her and she seemed excited to spend more time together. I got busy at work for a few days and then asked her out again, but she was headed out of town for two weeks.

She should be back by now. Is the ball in her court or mine?
I would say it could go either way, which means that while you could wait, I would suggest you go ahead and call; I don't think that would seem overly or weirdly persistent.

I'm NO EXPERT at this stuff, but I would touch base again.

Alright. I think this was the nudge I needed. Thanks!

I'd say it all depends on why the second date didn't make it to .6.

The second date came in at a full 1.0. The first date only registered 0.5 because it was just coffee in the middle of the afternoon on a workday. I wasn't even really a date--more like a "make sure he's not a creep" screening for people you meet on internet dating sites.

What's that rule? Play it cool.

I have no advice, since I found the only woman who would date me and have been stuck with her ever since. Spent this weekend, in fact, discussing with a friend of mine (female, if that matters), my pitiful lack of game. I (used to) do all the wrong things, like calling girls, letting 'em know I'm interested, etc.

Don't play games. Call and if you get voicemail leave a message saying you hope her trip went well and you look forward to hearing about it.

If she doesn't like you, it won't matter either way. If she does like you, she's looking forward to hearing from you and will be happy you called. And it sounds like she likes you, so go for it (unless she met some stud while away, then, well, what can you do?).

The majority is right. Call her. Don't fool around. Games are for the youthful and fearful. Assuming you're not calling her the second her plane touches down, and she's had a day or so to re-acclimatize, then please go ahead and give her a call. Terrapin's message suggestion is a good one.

Now that I understand the math, I agree with the rest of the Call Her people.

Late to nth call her. (But must admit I'm older and hence of the generation that still looks at guys to make the initial dating moves.)

Yep, call her for sure.

I emailed her. Emergency over. Thanks for participating!

But but but... I didn't get to participate.

deborah: Sorry...to make up for it, I'm going to tell you first that I now have a date for the museum on Friday. :)
