What should he put in the man cave? [More:]

He likes pokerstars.net, baseball, fishing, making lures and weights, food. He is very un-nerdy. He doesn't like to read and he doesn't listen to music.

So far all I know is that it will have a big, beefy leather recliner, a big screen tv, and a computer for playing poker on.
In preparation for decorating our own man-cave / game room, I've bought a couple of bar mirrors with the BF's favorite brands on them. I also had some baseball cards framed (all rookie cards of the players for whom the Cubs have retired jerseys), and bought him a wall hanger that displays several versions of the Cubs logo. Maybe you could pick up some baseball gear?

As far as activities, perhaps a new area for lure making complete with super awesome magnifying light and little chests of drawers for storing supplies? A dart board? Mini fridge and/or mini pantry for snacks?

I love the baseball card idea! He already has the lure-making area (good idea) or that would definitely be on the to-do list...he has a great little magnifier I found on Urban Outfitters, of all places, and good track lights over the desk. I like the bar mirror idea too. Do you have any before/after photos? I love this stuff. Redoing rooms, decorating, rearranging furniture....it's like crack to a nesty type like myself.

Oh another cool thing I've been finding some of lately in thrift shops is realllllly old baseball pennants, the kind with the words/logo printed on felt. They're usually faded and soft. I thought some of those on a wall would be pretty awesome.

I also found an old Phillies jersey that had a hole in the back and was too small for him, I used the front to make a pillow. He liked that and asked for some pillows made from t-shirts of sports teams.

I guess it seems contrary for me to be the one decorating his space, but he asked me to surprise him and make the room look cool, so I'm just doing as he requested ;)

Looking for a great man cave-type leather sofa on craigslist, too....

Hide a stash of really old Playboy magazines where he will eventually stumble upon them.

Ardiril, did I ever tell you that Arn found a stash of porno mags in the attic of that house we rented for so many years in Brookhaven? He ended up selling the box to one of those shops on Buford Highway. I never looked at them since they were all girlie mags, but now I wonder what kind of awesome 70s-80s photography and design I missed.

Isn't it up to the man to decide what goes in the man cave?

I wish we had before and after pictures, but we don't have an 'after'. The third bedroom we were going to use as the man cave room has now been designated the kids' (pets) room. For now the man cave has to wait until we get a larger apartment or house.

If you want to do something with baseball cards, they're pretty inexpensive. I bought the ones I framed for the BF on eBay for less than $10 each. The only non-original card is Ernie Banks, because his original card was wicked expensive. I decided a reprint would be fine. When I had them framed, the lady used glass on both sides of the frame and sandwiched the cards between two mats so you could see the stats on the backs of the cards by turning the frame around.

I don't know how you feel about taxidermy, but maybe a mounted deer's head or fish? My dad also has some old WWII bomber prints in his game room. And another idea I had was an elbow high ledge on one or two walls (near our dartboard area) for leaning or setting down darts and beers.

Did y'all hear that Mexican drug cartels have taken over a couple ranches in Texas? || I want to do these things and I want to do them for free.
