I'm going to Austria! →[More:]

I just booked a flight to Salzburg. Some friends from Ohio are staying in a chalet resort and have a spare place, so I'm going for 6 days in the early autumn.

I've only ever passed through Austria, 30-odd years ago, on a coach journey to Greece (that was a nightmare, the coach had no toilet!), but I've been to Switzerland and the French Alps several times and love lakes and mountains.

I read that as Australia and thought "Yay, Jan is going to visit her birthplace!". In any case - have fun, it sounds exciting!

I already had my summer trip, the road trip with my mum.

We fly to Florida on Saturday! We'll be at a house on the gulf coast of Florida with my family for a week. A small house. Actually, just a unit at a house. All 7 of us (parents, two sisters, one BIL, my husband and me). This could be heaven or this could be hell.

Twinkie is not going. Did I mention my father is bringing his boxer? So, 7 people and 1 boxer. He really wanted us to bring Twinkie, but Twinkie needs a vacation and so do we!

Well, I'm going to Austria too! But I think I've already mentioned that. Not for long though -- a few days in the Czech Rep (just Prague) and then on to Vienna for a good friend's wedding.

No vacation this year. Haven't had an actual whole week off for four years now. I keep changing jobs and losing all my accrued time each time. Right now I've got a whole two days saved up.

Cool, Jan! Have fun!

TheDonF and I will be doing quite a bit of travelling in the next couple months. Tomorrow we're off to Sheffield to visit an uncle, next week we're going to Paris for a couple days and then to Florence for a few days. (Oh, and we went to Germany a couple weeks ago to see cmonkey, woo!)

Then sometime in late August, we'll be flying to Florida to visit my mom and uncle; we'll spend a few weeks in Ft. Lauderdale and Gainesville. Then we're driving cross-country: we'll visit Elizard and Bitter Old Punk, Boring Postcards and Arn, see the Grand Canyon, see family and friends in Albuquerque, LA, San Francisco, and finally head to Portland where we will settle. Whew!

I'm off to Rzeszów (which is of course pronounced "ZHESH-oove") and Lviv at the end of August...and I'm booking my February vacation this weekend! Belgrade and Sarajevo, or Bulgaria...I still can't decide! There are probably warmer places I could go, but not on my budget! :)

I did the West Coast Trail a couple of weeks ago. Great weather - no rain! - and a really fun week-long backpacking trip. And I just arrived home from five days in Seattle. I went by ferry and stayed in a hostel. It was fun - lots of international visitors and a nice clean place close to downtown.

And now it's back to work on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here). It's been a long time since I've felt so relaxed.
