Done anything stupid lately? [More:]

At 4:00 this morning, while toting a playful cat out of the bedroom so I could get some sleep, I walked nose-first into the bedroom door. I'd completely forgotten that I got up at 2:00 and closed the door to shut out the other annoying cat.

My nose hurts, and my face is a bit swollen.

I also got a second-degree burn on my hand this weekend from my steam-spewing canner. Good times!

What have you done?
A few weeks ago I forgot, for the fourth or fifth time in as many months, that the handle on my cast iron skillet, which does not heat up when I have the pan on the range top, is not, in fact, immune from the general workings of thermodynamics when placed in the oven at 500F, and that I should therefore remember to USE A DAMNED POTHOLDER when I grab the handle after using the skillet in the oven.

This was a few days after I got a bad burn on my right arm because I thought that opening the oven door all the way in order to reach in to flip something over was too much effort, and a few days before I got a *really* bad burn on my *left* arm for doing the exact same thing.

Or maybe my stove is just out to get me.

I'm sure there are many things since then, but I remember talking to the BF on the phone back in May - I was telling him about how smart I was because I fixed a complicated problem at work. In the middle of telling him this, I zipped my hair into the zipper of my own jacket. I'm a frickin' genius.

I'm afraid to tell you....., it was so excruciatingly embarrassing that even I'm embarrassed. And I'm Wilder FFS!!!

Oh, you mean this morning, when I screwed the top on my coffee mug/thermos, zipped it up in its little black case, and prepared to get out of the car, only to find I'd put the mug in upside down and coffee was leaking out of its little black case all over the seat of the car?

What, me stupid?

I had a totally unecessary and somewhat pissy interaction with a total stranger today over the "walk" signal button at the intersection near the train station. It bugs me that people press the "walk" button even when they know someone else has already pressed it. But I could do a better job of checking myself rather than letting something dumb like that press my capability trigger.

I left my Bolle shades in the car, and somehow the frames got misshapen, to the point where they were way too lose.

I tried leaving them in a hot car again, another way, but that did not help. Then I tried a hair dryer to bend them back. Still no good.

Then I tried a heat gun. It seemed like what was altered was the fact that both lenses were now in one plane rather than wrapping around the head, some. So I figured that I could heat the piece that goes across the bridge of the nose. I succeeded in melting the inner parts of both lenses.

Time for new shades.

And also, thanks for this space to unburden myself. I have not been able to bring myself to tell anyone about this.

I've been having some problems dressing myself lately, putting on tops & cardigans inside out, but a couple of weeks ago, I went to work like this:

Ah, goshing, you are like me and gravitate toward the same kind of thing you already own when shopping! It is always such a revelation to me to look in my closet to hang up something new and realize that this is the 4th pair of black pants I own . . .

I've had a couple good ones lately, but the one I'll mention is that I burned the entire right palm of my hand, by grabbing the metal handle of a pot that had spent a good 20 minutes sitting right in front of the vent of my oven. Holy cats that hurt!

Heh, I was just thinking of making a post like this one!

The other day there was a red traffic light ahead, so I stopped behind a whole bunch of cars in the right lane. After sitting there for several minutes and wondering why the damn traffic wasn't moving, I realized I had pulled up behind a bunch of parked cars.

I was wiping off the kitchen counter, looked away for a second, and sliced open the tip of my right index finger open by sliding it across the dead-sharp serrated bread knife blade that I had just put down there. Ouch. Stupid.

I managed to make it all the way to the front of the very long immigration line in the Monterrey, Mexico airport without realizing that I was in the line for Mexican citizens. Sure, the initial sign was in Spanish, but you'd think I would have noticed that all the obviously American people loudly speaking English were in the other line.

Melismata's made me LOL!!! I've also gone to work with two different flip flops on - the exact same style but one blue one black. Memo to self: Don't get dressed in the dark.

Earlier this week I woke up, sat up and reached for my glasses on my nightstand. No glasses. Oh shit. I'm not supposed to bend down but I did of course, looking for my glasses on the floor, under the bed, etc. I was in a panic. For all I knew one of the cats had dragged them into the living room and the dog had eaten them. I sat back down on the bed and put my hand to my face to think of where else I might have left them. Yes, my glasses were already on my face.

Left the house for work the other day without any handkerchief/handtowels/etc. in 100 degree weather in the south. Stoooooooopid!
