KILL THE MACHINES! [More:]
I just came from Metropolis, in it's latest restored format, with a completely packed house and live music by the Alloy Orchestra at the Castro Theater. The folks who found the missing footage were on hand to introduce the film too.

As a single parent of a young kid, I really don't go out all that often. This was totally, awesomely fun!
I love the Alloy Orchestra, saw them do "Man with a Movie Camera" live a few months ago. The restored Metropolis will be playing here at the end of the month with the Kino soundtrack, no live music but we'll definitely be there.

I've seen Metropolis twice and always feel like I'm missing whatever it is that people see in it that makes it great. Maybe the restored footage helps?

I saw it in high school and was confused. It's been made much more coherent since then I guess, but part of what made it so wonderful was the live orchestration of a fantastic score.

To me it fulfills every characteristic people look for in films: adventure, romance, chase scenes, mob scenes, special effects, naked ladies, a Message, and a happy ending. So much fun!

What to do with these notecards with envelopes? || Gary Numan plays Cars. On Cars.
