Contact lens questions This is too stupid to ask at Ask, so I'm gonna ask you guys my question about contacts:→[More:]

I haven't worn contacts in something like five years. I still have a few pairs of my old ones that haven't expired yet (the lefts expire in 8 months, the rights in two years). I'm going to a Scott Pilgrim midnight release party/costume contest and glasses are really an impediment. Do you think it's ok to try and wear these? Assuming I remember how to get them in and stuff. My prescription has changed somewhat since then.

Is this completely idiotic?

I think it's fine if they are un-opened.

Yeah, are they unopened? Or have they been sitting in a case that long? If the latter, then I'd say no. But if they're still in their new plastic holder, then sure.

Yes, they'll be fine if they're still in a sealed pack.

You should be fine, but take your glasses with you as a backup in case you develop any discomfort or other problems and have to remove the contacts.

Oh, wait. Yeah, I'd think they're fine to wear, especially if it's just for a relatively short time.

Yes, they're unopened--I don't think contacts in a case would survive five years. :) Thanks, guys! I probably will not do this but like to ask these things anyway.

Try them out first. They should be fine, but if they're fine, they'll handle multiple wearings. Put them on around the house for awhile and make sure you don't get any headaches from the difference in prescription.
