Anyone else catch Stephen King's The Langoliers this Sunday on SyFy? [More:]Seeing the news of this flight being diverted to Bangor, Maine (same airport as in the movie, Stephen King's hometown) just creeped me out a bit.

I just found out it's a standard diversion destination for transatlantic flights (the flight in the movie is LA-Boston, though, so no other reason for the movie's diversion there, aside from King trying to freak me out)
My only trip off the North American continent, in 1977 to London, had a stop in Bangor. Story here (with a pic of a young "Wendell" facing away from the camera). The "Incident in Bangor" is at the end, here, but it was a 'cleaned up' version. The real reason my boss, the crazy radio guy, went AWOL at Bangor Airport was because he had brought his then-girlfriend on the trip, and, yep, he wanted to "bang her in Bangor".

No, but that story really creeped me out. Still does, a bit.
