Streaming radio through a radio. I am completely fascinated by my two Logitech internet radios I bought for Christmas. [More:]I resisted buying one for a long time, because I kept telling myself it was a waste of money because I can listen to anything through my laptop already. But there is something so perfectly wonderful about internet audio coming through a radio. I turn it on, I press a preset, or I scroll through my favorites menu, and voila, BBC Radio 4 without that stupid iplayer! Anything on Shoutcast without loading winamp! Audio Noir Old Time Radio without loading windows media player! Magic! I can't explain why it's so much nicer not to have a computer interface to deal with, but it is.

Also, there's this wonderful app that plays all kinds of sound effects so I can go to sleep listening to the ocean if I want. Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr . . . .
Huh...I gave away a Squeezebox recently. I finally got to set it up in my new place...then realized it was sitting there, right beside the PC that is already connected to my tv, and nice amp/speakers. So...to have a whole other device that was capable of connecting to either a local server with mp3s or internet radio seemed silly.

Now I'm not so sure. Heh.

I want this, but I have a perfectly good PC right here for listening to things. I imagine there's a good general internet radio listening app which has good presets and such. Probably itunes or media player or some such. But whenever I try one, I'm underimpressed. Is there something a dedicated internet radio can do that some Windows app can't? (I'm really not trying to be snarky here, even though it might sound that way. Somehow, I just can't seem to get this going. I probably just haven't put enough effort into finding a good app and some good internet stations. I probably need some kind of help.)
