MetaFilter! Gosh, hi! Um, so how've you been? →[More:]You're looking good. Are you here to meet up with someone?
I bumped into MetaFilter at my local bar last night. I was meeting my wife at our usual spot for a drink after work. When I walked in, there was the little sign on the table, and a few folks milling about who seemed vaguely familiar.
It felt a bit awkward, like running into a person I used to date, in that "I Should Be Nice & Say Hi But I Don't Really Want To Have a Conversation" kind of way. The whole thing was an odd combo of "Hey, this is *my* turf, what are you doing here" and a bit of nostalgia for a time when I would've been there for the meetup myself.
Also, I was quietly hoping there would be photos and I could appear in the background as a surprise MetaChat spy, but we cleared out before the camera arrived, apparently.
So... Has anyone else ever felt awkward in a social situation with a former website?
